Just my 2¢. Everybody has their own opinions and choices to make. Try different things and find one you like. I will be trying 20/4 my next grow. However I will always start my plants 24/0 until they show sex.
Right or wrong this is what I did too, my thinking is that the heat from the lights 24/0 would keep the soil temperature consistently warm for maximum root development, once they showed sex and began flowering my concentration moved into bud development and the switch to 20/4 was made. I'm just starting out so don't take my word, but it made sense in my brain.
I run 20/4 for first 6 weeks of veg and then switch to 18/6 for flower. I have seen a moderate increase in trich production when the autos have a longer dark period. I am about to test 12/12 to see how much yield is effected by the 10 strains I am running now as comparison. I am doing this to run some photos at the same time but makes for a good side by side comparison on yields with specific strains at 12/12.
im running 24/0 for my first grow, is there a place on this crazy world of ours with 24hrs of light and any stage during the year, call me dumb but i think there is, if so, and rudarilis grew there, would that not be the perfect one to use!! using my common sense here i have nothing to back up anything ive just said so go easy on me
There is a place here on earth with 24hrs of light but I don't think much would grow there.
They are called the artic and antartic lol
I'm only on my first grow: 5 lr#2 and 3 pineapple haze
and I'm on 24/0. Seems to be working well for me.
definetly 20/4. Ive noticed big jumps in grow when they get there 4 hours of dark, which is what you want, as big of a plant you can get befor it fully goes into bud
I think it might vary according to variety. I'm doing a Maxi Gom grow right now. I'm pretty much convinced that these plants did not like 24/0. When I switched to 20/4 things picked up immensly. I might try 18/6 next time I grow this strain. Just my thoughts
I know that I voted 20/4 and that is what I used for my first grow, but I'm experimenting with 24/0 until vertical growth has ended then switch over to 20/4 for flowering. Since I'm only growing one plant at a time I want it to have the benefit of 24 hours of light during the veg cycle.
