I use phresh filters an 8 inch and a 6 inch they work great I have some really smelly plants going at the moment and I can hardly smell them until. I take them out of my room :smokebuds:

I previously used a generic carbon filter, I bought on ebay. Lasted about 1.5 years. I replaced it with one from I-Power. Both in the 6' size, and both have worked great, so far. The only time I smelled anything, was when i had a small hole in my duct, inside the room, and at the end of the first filters life. Prior to using carbon scrubbers, I ducted into a bucket with water and Pinesol. It worked, but I really got tired of the smell of Pinesol.

Ridgerunner

I'm using the same filter that came taped and clamped to my fan over 2 years ago...I bought all my stuff from a nabor who moved away.....,but after every grow and dry I remove the filter and soak it in a trash can full of water with a hose running with fresh water rinsing it out...then I let it dry out in the garage before I hook it back up to the exhaust side of the fan and blow the rest of the moisture out.....along with an Ozone jr....I can't smell anything outside my grow shed.....

I went and picked up a Phresh 4x12 filter on Saturday after my old can gave out and I can't smell a damn thing in this room. It helps that I'm running a 100 cfm fan through a 200 cfm filter :D I find smell to be one of those places it doesn't hurt to overkill. I'm hoping it will last longer than the year the can did, though the can worked great.

I have phresh 4x12 in each tent as well. Love it, plus, if the wife could smell the ladies in full on flower, she would make me take my room down!!! Thank heavens for air filters!!!

Phresh 8" x 24" works like a cherm :D

I only have a single-plant micro-grow going, so I just use a plastic tub with holes in it and ona gel, with a fan blowing in. It seems to do the job, though it's going through the ona gel quickly so I'm putting together a custom carbon filter some point in the next week or so.

I'm actually on my way to the pet shop now to buy myself some cat litter box carbon filters. Gonna stuff them into an empty soda bottle with holes drilled into it and then connect the whole thing to a bathroom fan. Think it's gonna work?

No, it won't. That sounds like it would also restrict your fan too much. The air needs to pass through a bed of 100% activated carbon for the smell to be taken out. Most filters are designed with a certain cubic foot a minute (or meters per hour is it?) rating in mind, so anything above what they are rated for would render them useless.

Hey Mr. P.
It's a 85m3 / h fan. In a 32 m3 room with only one plant. The filters are pretty thin (2 mm) and breathy. I thought I would cut three or four round pieces in the same diameter as the bottle, cut off the bottom (of the bottle), drill loads of small holes around the bottle mouth for more air to go though easily and then simply fit the filters in the bottle as close to the mouth as possible. Then I'll just silver tape the bottle bottom to the fans exhaust. The fan is going to be put up in a door going in to a garage. I don't mind the grow room or the garage smelling a little, what I want to avoid is a lingering smell on the neighborhood street outside.
