What type of water would you use and how?

250 is pushing it for starting ppm typically 150ppm is where you want to be but what I’d be more worried about is the softener. I don’t believe that’s good for the plants I run a whole house softener but the my feed water goes through a RO system after the softener my ppm is 400 out of the tap
Thanks for replying, I'll have to figure something out then , it's a rented property so I can't fit an ro system .

What about at little one like this if your not growing a ton of plants and plan ahead this unit will produce decent amount of RO and can be easy hooked up to a sink faucet as needed it comes with adapters to do so

Dab beat me to it, but yes, think about investing in one of those small RO machines. They are not a permanent install so you can hook up and remove it easily if you are renting.

Easiest hookup spot is your toilet. You can slip a diverter valve behind the toilet where the silver metal water hose attaches. Plus you can run the waste water right back into the bowl to drain.

There is a diverter valve you can get at home Depot for about $15 that fits the white push fit water lines perfectly.
