2.5 year is a while. I have heard that most do great with full use about 18 months. I use a PHAT filter, same Co. that makes Phresh, just cheaper. Haven't had any issues at all, only been about 12 months use.
Rhino Filters were formerly known as Phat Filters but owing to legal disputes they ended up having to change their name. Apart from that, everything else is exactly the same – the same carbon, airflow rates and performance.
homemade and change the carbon once a year max , if i wasnt so lazy id change it every 6 months , saftey is too important to be going 2.5 yrs or even the manufacturers suggested 1.5
open up your filters n see how easy it is to replace the coal , or how easy it would be to make your own filter , a 20 gallon bucket of coal they/most use is 1/4 the price of buying a new filter each time
I've been using a 4" Phat for over 2 years now and it's still working great. It's in my small area, 4 plants max. I exhaust into my bathroom and don't smell a thing in there.
