Dutch Passion Waximus' DP Auto Durban Poison, in TLO soil

Interesting.. The lowest leaves on mine feel very soft, velvety even. From a close up look, I'm sure it was a combination of my first airpot watering- Slowwwwwww, and I gave them 2+ liters of mild tea- and this is my first layered soil organic grow. That supersoil I'm using is HOT, Brother! The good news it that they don't seem stunted in the least, and they're putting out leaf sets in good time, so they must have rallied to the steroidal reality :)
Is your soil compacting, sans the perlite?

Gotcha, yeah feels like it's too compact, I aimed for no run-off today, so I guess slightly underwatered. I added vermiculite mistakenly to my mix, it's retaining too much water I think. I had to get rid of my cooking mix anyway it was infested. I've decided I don't want to lean to TLO just yet. I think ammeded soils, tea's and organic nutes for back up are the way for me right now.

I had a similar problem with gnats that I was sure came from those worm castings. I top dressed with neem and took care of them in a few days.

Eyes gave me a tip a while back.. Have you tried fluffing your top soil? I used a plastic spoon, and gently scraped up and loosened down to the to roots-only made it 1/2-3/4 inch down- but it really let the soil breathe better, and cured my water retention problems with the first AWWs. When you see the first roots while scraping, go no further. And, make sure you smooth the soil out when done. It'll help. No miracle cure, but it was a real help.

Ahhh.. No, my gnats were definitely from a bag of Fox Farm soil. I'm such a goofball- I actually taped a yellow sticky trap in a covered bucket with both the new soils- for 2 days- to see if I got any airborns.. nada. not one. From either mfg.
I've put sticky traps up in every pot, and have another gnatrol tea for Thursday. If they aren't gnatocided by Saturday, there's going to be a right neeming, for sure! lolol

Thanks for the tip bro, will do that today lights on. +1 :Sharing One:

Thanks, KK :) Glad you stopped in! The little Ladies are all hitting the supersoil layer, and they are saying Wow! Got a bit of nute burn, but new leaf sets are trucking along. I'll post an update on Saturday, so long as we don't wake and bake the day away... lolol

Im sure you gon give em some of that Waximus on em and they be fine.. i feel you on Sat lol :)

lolol What little grow mojo I have to impart wouldn't outweigh a hydroton ball lololol
I knew when I started these grows that it ws going to be a whole new experience. Layered soils, new genetics (DP, though, so Gold standard seed stock, at least), and airpots. We live, we learn, I say :) You are most kind, Brother. That made my day!

Happy Saturday, Peeps! I got motivated early this morning, and did some work with the Ladies :)
I've noticed that the Auto Durbans are MUCH more tolerant of the supersoil layer, which all have grown into in the past 4 days. In my other grow log, the Blue Velvets, you'll see that when they hit the supersoil, they were quite jolted in the bottom leaf sets. These Durban Sisters... just a bit of leaf tip burn, and they are doing fine! Yay, AND Phew! lolol
So, today I gave the girls a quart of water (pH'd to 6.5) with a tsp of blackstrap per gallon. I surface dressed a 3/4 tsp of Oregonism XL (Myco, etc) per plant- hoping to get the bacteria and fungus as happy as possible, so the roots'll build to max. I also surface dressed 1/2 tsp of Elemental (cal/Mg). After that, I "mulched" all pots (finally..lazy Wax head...) with hydroton.
One thing I've noticed with the airpots.. I watered in 1/2 gallon when I transplanted them (last Saturday!) and they lasted a WEEK with that watering! I'm not sure what to make of that, other than the nute surge may have stopped the water works to the roots, while they acclimated. If anybody has ideas on that, I'd be grateful to hear 'em.
Enough of the blah blah... Pics:

As always, constructive advise, pithy comments, and general revelry are most welcome!
Have a great weekend, Peeps!
