New Grower Vegasbear's Noob Growing Adventures

First Grow - Day 4 - HG WW x California Snow Auto
Watered 40ml each twice today. Misted soil in pots around the edges as it's feeling kind of dry. I am afraid to soak the soil and have it kill my plants at this point so I did about 1/8 gal sprayed onto top soil around the edges of each pot just to keep it damp. With humidifier running 24/7, tent is maintaining RH of 47-55.

I was told that I should gently backfill coco just to below the bottoms of the leaves, but that is advice that I haven't really read anywhere else, plus it was second-hand through one of my colleagues from his wife.

Anything to that? I am of a mind to just leave it alone but if backfilling up under the leaves is helpful, I would love to hear about it!

Hey m8.. i dont grow Coco but plenty on here do and Ive never heard any of em mention backfilling up to the the leaves.. I can't think of any logical reason that you would unless maybe you had a weak/leggy seedling that was falling over?? What would it offer the plant?? I wouldn't bother. Baby girl looks happy.. keep up the good work brother. :d5::thumbsup:

Read back through this thread and noticed a lot of watering your young sprouts. Good if in coco but not in organics. I start and grow in organics...small pots ....premoistened and they need nothing for days. A cheapo moisture meter is essential for proper and timely watering.

I'm growing in coco/perlite in cloth pots in a dry desert environment so maintaining adequate moisture even with a humidifier going 24/7 at this stage and trying not to over water is a challenge. I seem to stall out around 45-48 RH inside my tent even then.

Coco in all pots was pretty dry down to the second knuckle, and following some advice from another coco grower, I watered all pots with 1L each of water today, starting heavier at the edges and tapering off to about 2" from the edges of my rapid rooters. I will be keeping an eye on them to see how they respond.

Looking good!
I'm not saying this is a good idea, because I don't really know what bad could come of it, but a folded wet towel on a close hanger raises my humidity up 20 to 30% in a 2x3 tent.

Put one end of the towel in a bucket of water and the wicking action will keep it wet. I can get bone dry here; it got to ZERO % RH here a couple of days lst summer. I run a swamp cooler and even with it it takes more to keep the girls happy. I have used wet towels many times.

Just to respond to your question a couple posts up, the stem under the seed leaves (coytledons) will grow roots when buried, above those is like the "trunk" where the risk of stem rot comes,
some people will top up there pot with more medium, or add a top dress a some point,
Plants are looking good :goodluck:
