I aim to build on the plants I like . I see my plant's as "small" or "tall" . That's the two categories I use instead of "indica" or " sativa " . I can make an F1 strain with a short Finnish time just like my special kush that can be harvested in 55days. Small sea of green strain. I can also make the long flowering strains but I don't aim for them. Who wants a long flowering plant ?. Not i. Lol

@Shiva's Mistress how goes it? Ain't seen u about for a while. Hope you're well. I'll be starting a 16 plant SoG with the special Kush in an 80cm square tent in a few weeks time when my current run is done.. I'll tag u in :pighug:

Me too please :toke:

Hi all. I've been lurking about here on and off for ages now but spending most of my time on grasscity forums. I've been interested in organic growing for some time now and am currently running my first no bottle organic grow. I've 3 Auto plants in my 2x4, in 5-gallon fabric pots (I'm going to run 3/4 full 10 gallon bags next time), with lava rock in the saucers to act as SIPS (wicking action). I'm respecting the VPD and using a heat mat to keep the soil around 21-22 degrees. I'm using RO water as mine is London shit water. I've got two Mephs, a Strawberry Nugget and a Forum Stomper as well as a Sensi Seeds Black Lights CBD. I used a lot of leaf mulch from the forest in this first soil mix plus some recycled soil and a bunch of amendments. I took a fairly casual approach to it all which as you'll all know, isn't always the right way to go. The Forum Stomper is really not happy but the strawberry Nug is the happiest plant I've ever seen! Take a look L-R: CBD, FS, SN

I think my issue was calcium or a lack of. Anyway, I'm going to share a recipe that's been given to me by an old school and extremely successful Alaskan grower, Organic Sinse. I've amended it as some of his ingredients are hard to come by over here or are too expensive for me. He agrees the substitutions are more than adequate. I'm not sure how many organic growers are on here but I'd love some feedback if possible? PS, not growing for cash, purely personal.

Organic Sinse’s Soil Mix Fall 2021 (10.5 gallons approx)
  • 2 gal of Leaf mould, add 1 litre or less of rice hulls, 1/4 cup each of: bone meal, crab shell meal, kelp meal, neem seed meal and malted barley powder. 2 tablespoons of oyster shell flour and gypsum. Leave a little time to cook.
  • 2 gal (9 litres) each- compost, perlite, EWC, and slightly re-amended recycled soil (8 gallons total)
  • 1/2 gallon (2.3 litres) bio char (lump charcoal run thru a hand crank meat grinder) not charged
  • 1/2 cup each- Fishbone meal (or bone meal), kelp meal, crab shell meal, neem seed meal, and Malted barley powder
  • 1/4 cup each- garden lime (Dolomite), oyster shell flour, and gypsum (calcium sulfate)
  • 1-2 cups glacier rock dust (or volcanic rock dust)
  • 1 cup green sand (New Jersey greensand)
  • Optional but beneficial: 2 Tablespoons each- Fish meal, alfalfa meal, soy meal (or 1 extra tablespoon each of alfalfa meal and fish blood and bone if cant find soy), Langebenite (Sul-Po-Mag is a common brand name, It’s actually sulfate of potash magnesia), and 1 cup of chicken manure.
  • For happy Autos, use a 1/2 litre starter plug of Old Timers or Light Mix with added perlite or rice hulls for aeration.

Hey! Not bad. Busy with work and life.
Almost finished my tiny stash from Sept harvest already.
Tag me, please. I hope I'll have time to check in.

Keep blazin'!

I start all my plant's together . I select a number of plants to reverse to male then select the male I'm looking for to pair with the desired female.
I take a farmer's approach to growing. The best seeds for the best selection of seedlings to get the best possible flowers. I use 50 seeds every tent.
In theory if I have the male I really want and the female I really want then it's the best possible outcome in so many aspects. It's the reason I can make a well balanced F1 that's fast. Choice. :woohoo1:

Thanks for the answers, and sharing how you work.
I like 'small' and 'tall,' what does 'indica' and 'sativa' mean these days, when everything is a hybrid?
Eight week harvest is great!

Yea 8 weeks is a good goal to aim for. My cut off point is 10 weeks , if a new test strain runs over that and is slow performing in growth pattern then I'm out. I stick to the fast , fat and frosty terminology in most selected plants . As my plant's grow I always do the smell test on the main stems , if you get a very pungent scent from the stem it can indicate the potential for high terps. That's another wee tip for matching parent plants.

Have a wee look at my plant's dude . I only use chicken poop. That's it.
If you are looking to try a new method it may interest you ?
