Mephisto Genetics Tyrone Special K.I.S.S grow journal

Thanks Fairlynew.

I have Micorrhizae supplements, and I am very tempted to use them. But I want to stick to a simple grow that anybody could do. When I started reading AFN I was overwhelmed with the endless variety of nutes, and schedules, and flushing. It can be intimidating for a newbie. Growing stuff should be fun, kids do it in school just for fun.

The soil has had two months to build a natural Micorrhizae network, maybe it is ready.

Great idea... remember to go with the flow... keep a close eye on things after 35 days... it's usually when the deficiencies show up... I give my tomatoes the same food as my ganja so they both kind of like the same stuff... and root rot so if anything you might want to spike the ground with a nail or something to aerate the old roots a little, let em rot and give the new ones extra air... Best of luck!

Keep It Super Simple... a low maintenance grow, with tomato plant food.

STRAIN: Tyrone Special
SOIL: Peat moss + 10% vermiculite + old roots
CONTAINER: 15 liter Superoots Air Pot
LIGHTS: Grownorthern HS1 LED... 24 hours
NUTES: Texas Tomato Food, $14.95 per quart on Amazon. NPK is 3.8 - 3.1 - 7.0 based on "percentage of weight"

One bottle of nutes from start to finish, nothing else, not even Silicon or Cal/Mag. With just one bottle I have a decent chance of fertilizing correctly. The goal is to fertilize lightly at every watering so there are always nutrients near those millions of little root hairs. This tomato food has earned a good reputation on the tomato forums.
Lets try it on weed.

I read about this and it is rich in calcium to that's good... they also suggest starting off (vegging) plants with an all purpose veg fert... most likely because the babies don't want a lot of flower food... they want NITROGEN! So in my humble opinion, you might want to take them till they show sex on fish emulsion and then start this stuff... just a suggestion after reading the directions... ;)

Wow! You read their website and you are catching details. Yes it is low nitrogen, thanks for the reminder.
Maybe salts will build up from unused Phosphorus & Potassium? Might be a problem since Potassium tends to stick to soil and not get leached out or flushed out. Lets try it anyhow!

My Sour Crack grow started with Dyna-gro Foliage Pro:
9.0 - 3.0 - 6.0 for higher nitrogen. Then switch for bloom to Texas Tomato food:
3.8 - 3.1 - 7.0. Less than half the nitrogen.
I wanted to make this grow simpler.
One bottle.

It is probably a silly idea....but my Hubbabubbasmelloscope has been growing pretty well with only Texas Tomato food and Silicon since germination, now at Day 44. Let's see what happens to Tyrone Special.

Day 3 two Tyrone Specials are doing alright. In the middle you can see the stump from Sour Crack. They are growing right through Sour Crack's root ball. You can see the fertilizer salt crusted on the soil surface, especially on the old Root Riot plug (the square whitish chunk of soil around the stump)

Day 7 Really enjoy seeing them grow. They are doing pretty good, maybe a little slow for day 7. They are on a water diet until they show some deficiencies. I was over fertilizing so there are enough nutes in that soil to gag a maggot.

Thanks man, lots of people here have better growing skills than me and there are several excellent Tyrone Special Journals.
I figure, lets try something fun, maybe learn something new.

If my comedy of errors brought a smile to your face, I am happy guy.:haha:

Day 8 same stuff, different day. Someone was asking about the lighting in my grow room.
Tyrones are getting the Grownorthern HS1 at 15cm. There is lots of side glow from 200 watts of CFL over my Hubbabubbsmelloscope (HBSS). The HBSS is so wide and flat that she is filling up every corner of the grow room.

Hard to guess the right amount of light to give them. The light meter helps but it is still guessing. The girls don't show any sign of deficiency and they don't seem stretched or "leggy". Lets check again when they are 2 weeks old.
