Mephisto Genetics Tyrone Special K.I.S.S grow journal

@BayLee420 Glad you are back, and thanks for the rep.
Would you please share a link to your new grow journal?

I really hope you try Tyrone Special. The smoke reports made it seem mild, almost insipid. Well this harvest is a soaring jolt of "up". The plants were actually grown as throw aways! I wanted to experiment with 2 seeds in one container so I chose my least favorite based on the descriptions and smoke reports: Tyrone.
Now it is my favorite by a wide margin. LOL!!!

You can have my old Sour Crack buds for free. (because I bungled: harvest, dry, and cure)
I will do it right next time... or at least make new mistakes.

My Tyrone buds are perfect right now, I don't want to lose one more molecule of THC to CBN.
We know that THC converts to CBN by oxidation. Absorbing oxygen. Like an old yellow newspaper.
Hmmm...easy to add oxysorb packets to my jars of weed....No oxygen, no oxidation.
You know, keep things fresh for a few years.

Oxysorb packets on Amazon $10.99 http://tinyurl.com/oqbfksd

Now that's very clever…..

I'm not sure, I just hope it is correct. I hate sharing bad info, some of my old posts are embarrassingly wrong.
The drying & curing mystery has been bugging me for a while. Lately I have all this Tyrone energy.

We are here for the THC
But the plant makes THCA. And that slowly converts to THC by the release of Carbon Dioxide. Off Gassing.
Exactly the same as CBDA slowly converting to CBD by releasing CO2.
The conversion stops when our glass jar is full of Carbon Dioxide, right? Full is full.
This is why we burp the jar. (why, for the love of weed, doesn't anybody explain this stuff)

Carbon dioxides fills the jars, the weed can't decarb more until we open the jar.
Opening the jar also lets oxygen in, but the Oxysorb soaks it up before it damages the THC

But how often do I need to burp?
I have a cheap CO2 meter, lets test....

I was under the impression burping the jar was to remove excess moisture that is leaching out of the center of the bud to get it to maintain the correct humidity level. Maybe I am wrong.

Sorry, I forgot to mention:
Boveda 62% packs in the Jar to maintain the moisture level, and a Hygrometer in the jar.
But, I don't know. I am learning this stuff as I go along.
I don't even know why 62% is the best moisture level. Is it?

This is me:

Boveda has run mulitple tests, along with there testers and there background as a supplier of humidty packs to/for expensive cigars they have quite some knowledge with them.

They have found that the 62% value, gives the best overall end product. IIRC the moisture in the bud with the 62% values is roughly 12-15%, some have stated they like there buds for smoking come in at 10% or about. But again its a personal preference.

Best for what? Measurable stuff like: THC levesl? Lowest chlorophyll? Retained Terpenes?
Or subjective stuff like: smoothest, tastiest?
Best for vaporizers or joints?

What about dropping a fresh trimmed cola into a freezer bag. Fresh frozen.
No bags, no jars, no Boveda, no Oxysorb, no Hygrometer, no burping, no #$$%$#$ mold.
I agree with @Rhyce Saroni, fresh vaped buds are extra tasty.

I might even consider freeze drying, what do you think? But those machines are like $4000

Maybe a chunk of Dry Ice.... Does water ice really sublimate out of weed suspended above dry ice?

Based upon the desired humidty percentage for smoking / vaping and long term storage and preserver.

I would only throw material in the freezer, if it was assigned an appointment with a Bubble Bags.

They found out that the 62% roughly gives You the 12-15 bud moisture content, which has been an industry "standard", when talking about quality.

These are the words direct from Boveda:

"Boveda monitors the ambient conditions and adds or removes moisture, as necessary, to maintain the perfect water content of the flower. You’ll immediately notice that color, texture, taste and strength are enhanced.

Boveda is ideal for storing and curing (aging) cannabis that has already been dried. While Boveda is effective in moisture removal, the standard method of hanging in a dry environment is most effective. When you feel the plant is close to the intended moisture content for curing, Boveda will do the fine tuning for perfect long term storage. Grow it, dry it, package it with Boveda. You get perfect long term curing for the best possible cannabis."

Boveda packs are just salty water, right?
No circuity or intelligence that "monitors the ambient conditions", the 75% pack is table salt: sodium chloride and water.
Other packs are different salts or mixes of salts.
I like the product, but their marketing department got carried away.

Uh oh! I am allergic to industry standards.

"12-15 bud moisture content" that is chosen because it makes a joint burn nicely, right?

What about vaporizers? Moisture content seems less important for vaporizers.
In fact moisture just delays the vaporization of the THC. My first toke on a fresh green bowl is a lung full of water vapor.

I am searching for answers, If I am being offensive just send a PM.
Maybe my replies are too terse, flippant, know-it-all. No offense intended.
This a great discussion
