Mephisto Genetics Tyrone Special K.I.S.S grow journal

Yes, now I am using it every watering.
Do you have a suggestion for how much, what dosage?

I use this, which uses a ridiculously little amount. I don't know how easy it is to overload plants with silica, I can't recommend a dosage. I use the amount recommended.

Always learning something new on AFN.
The 250ml bottle is $130 on Amazon http://tinyurl.com/nw9azdw
That is about $2000 per gallon, too expensive for me but I like learning new stuff.
Looks like Aptus FASiLITOR is using boric and silicic acid and PEG 400 in a lower pH, lower concentration for easier absorption. Convenient for hydroponics, but not sure I want PEG 400 (Polyethylene glycol) in my buds.

Is Aptus FASiLITOR really just Silliforce.... re-branded, repackaged, re-marketed, and with a massive price increase: http://agro-solutions.us/solutions/siliforce/

I have become a cynical, jaded, bitter, grumpy grower when it comes to nutes and might never forgive companies for encouraging overfeeding AND flushing... so greedy. I am slow and stubborn to add anything to my simple tomato plant food.

Aptus FaSilitor says their silicon is bio-available immediately.
Others silicon additives might take time for the bigger particles to break up into small pieces the plants can use.
Does it make a measurable difference for you compared to the cheaper stuff like Dyna-Gro Pro-tekt?

Reading more about Silicon ....
  • Silicon Increases Metabolic Rates
  • Silicon Increases concentrations of chlorophyll
"soluble silicon have been shown to produce higher concentrations of the enzyme RUBP carboxylase in leaf tissue. This enzyme regulates the metabolism of carbon dioxide and enables the plant to make more efficient use of available levels of CO2."
So the Tyrones are using more CO2, it wasn't my imagination or sloppy measurements.
Silicon encrusted stomata, looks like a mouth full of teeth!:warrior:

Thanks, I have not seen than brand before, looks like it is half the concentration of Dyna-Gro Pro-tekt. Always learning something new on AFN. I have become a cynical, jaded, bitter, grumpy grower when it comes to nutes.

The concentration is less important as how efficiently it is delivered. Protekt is on the shelf next to this, but where I shop, everyone is using this. Seems to work better than the rhino skin I had been using on my photoperiods. So I assume it will work better for autos too.

Sorry, I edit the crap out of my posts as I slowly figure stuff out.
You quoted me half way though, and I just saw your reply.
All good, but I don't want you to take offense at my half formed post.

I do appreciate you sharing the photo. I never heard of Aptus FaSilitor before!
They applied for a patent for their formula:

Sheesh, growing weed can get really complicated. Reading about their patent made my brain fuzzy.

Here is she is with camera flash to highlight the Trichomes.

I am very pleased with Tyrone Special, these girls get Tomato plant food, Silicon, and CFL...
so the frost is from her genetics not from special nutes or lights

Bubba that Tyron look incredible and the images outstanding !! nice job amigo !

Hey Hubba, thanks for posting that info in !

And sure, part about autos, is to get there sweet spot watering wise.

During lights off, the roots will develop, but they need oxygen to thrive,
so a overwatered medium makes more of a swamp than an actual "soil enviroment",
where the roots will thrive. Part of why i take so detailed notes of the watering,

Yesterday i pushed 750ml versus normal 500ml and a day more than i used to (before 1 day water break),
and i could clearly see the effects. Half the plants, took it ok/good (the most developed and biggest) whereas, the smaller and thus less drinking ones took a "hit", with signs of starting drop leaves.

Happy SUNday

Thank you Amigo.
This is my 3rd grow and I thought I could relax a bit, but I am checking on them just as often as my first grow!
I think the FIMing is like magic for shaping the canopy to get more light, it really helps. Are you gonna try it?

I defoliated the smallest cola today, just for laughs. Snipped off all 5 fan leaves, now it is pure sugar leaves and buds.
Not sure I like defoliation of the top canopy, but gotta try new stuff, right?
