Hi guys.
This is my second grow. My first last year was incognito and just a dry run, no nutrients... minimal sun exposure.

This year, I learned, went with big pots, promix soil, light nutrients (max 75% of dose).

I have 4 plants total. 2 CBD auto's, 2 different kush varieties and they both have the same pattern as this pic. My kush plants seem healthy to me, but both CBD plants are substantially smaller. Something i'm kind of sad about because I really wanted the CBD production more than the Kush.

I tried one more shot of nutrients in week 4 but everything is done growing at this point it seems and flowering has begun.

So for the sake of learning, and getting better... What do I do here next time? Should i change soils based off of strain? Maybe the kush was ok with it but the CBD needs more air.
I've even tried shifting the pots around so that the CBD gets a little more sun exposure but ended up here....

Autos can naturally be stout dude especially if they have indica in them. They look about the right size to me.
They also look very green, happy and healthy [emoji106]

Get those flowering nutes going if the stretch has stopped.

Thanks James, Im really trying hard this year to listen to the plants and take care of them. I was just a bit thrown off when the heights of the CBD
were so stunted. I thought maybe theres something small I can change to get a better yield. Just learning as I go....

look ok colour and structure  stunted is an overused word:coffee2: stick a classic DP strain next to a something ryder and there be a small/big again.
sometimes growing the same strain we can get two phenotypes, one leaning more sative, one leaning more indica.
stunted to me is a blimp or a one cola wonder

I guess the first thing I want to know is where you are located. If your only source of light is the sun and you are located in the mountains of Vermont then that's a lot different than if you are located in the Texas panhandle.

Do you have drain holes in those buckets?

What brand are your seeds?

What brand nutes are you using?

How old are those plants? If they are 20 days old then you're gonna have monsters. If they are 50 days old you're still going to get some great homegrown bud - just less of it.

Like everyone else has said, those plants look very healthy so I'm guessing you are getting the most out of the genetics and lighting that you can. Just keep trucking and get some bloom nutes to those girls.

Hello! I am in Toronto Canada.

Ok so I put drain holes in the buckets on the side (midway) and the bottom. I dont typically water to overflow. I just water when the soil is dry when I crumble the top layer in my fingers.

I am using promix nutrients as well 20-8-8 and now shifting to 9-16-16

They are 5 weeks old.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Think you're about to see an explosion of growth....however you've not made mention of the seeds?

Outdoor auto grows tend to go a little slower than under lights so you might yet have 2 or 3 more weeks before flower. Indoors 7-10 days as an educated guess.[Plenty of time for for your ladies to spread.]

Theyre Dutch Passion CBD auto's, and Fastbuds cali og.

I think I've realized a massive issue. Next year im going to add a shit ton of vermiculite or some perlite to my soil. Its not really draining well and after grabbing a soil PH/Moisture rod, my plants are pretty soaked. PH seems ok but the soil moisture is at max despite not having watered since wednesday. Everythings a learning experience I guess. I'll have to lose a week now of nutes to wait for this soil to dry out..
