#8 - Critical Kush
Hey folks,

Back again. I got 8oz dried from the Chemdawg plant - a decent haul but a little disappointing considering the long ~10 week veg time...
Lesson learned: more plants = reduced veg. time = greater output efficiency

Oh well! On to...
tronGrows #8: Critical Kush by Barney's Farm - Featuring a new 3x3 Tent...

So I went and got myself a 3x3 tent to replace the 2x4. My most efficient yields in the 2x4 was with two plants; I'm aiming for 4 plants in the 3x3.

Overview of grow room upgrades:
  • Replaced 7 gallon reservoir bucket with 27 gallon reservoir tote bin;
  • Replaced 7 gallon drain bucket with 12 gallon drain tote bin;
  • Space heater and humidifier moved outside tent to lung room;
  • FloraFlex PotPro self-draining saucers
  • Vivosun Oscillating Clip Fan
Still using:
  • SCROG
  • Hydro Halos for drip irrigation
  • InkBird Temp/RH Controller
  • AC Infinity Exhaust Fan
  • Pots drain into a smaller bucket inside the tent; gets pumped out to 12 gallon tote bin
Stay tuned!

These are around ~5-6 weeks into veg and I'm getting ready to flip to flower. All 4 are Critical Kush by Barney's Farm - definitely noticing some variations in phenos... bottom right plant is quite stretchy and bottom left is quite bushy for example.

I had some pretty dramatic nutrient/pH issues after transplanting into their final pots but it seems to have been rectified. That reminds me, here's an overview of my nutrient regimen:

nutrients
  • Growing in Pro-Mix HP Using MegaCrop 2-part and 0 ppm starting water
  • Started in fabric nursery pots, max ppm around 150ppm
  • Moved to solo cups, bumped feeds up to 350ppm
  • Moved to final 5 gallon pots, feeding at 500ppm - started to see signs of phosphorous and calcium issues, bumped feeds up to 650, then 750, then 900
  • Too much too quick, signs of burning, gave 3 plain waterings - resulted in low run-off, over corrected again gosh darnit and signs of hunger lol
  • Last 2 feeds at 650ppm, all signs of deficiency gone - maybe pushing a smidge high again so plain watering next time then I'll probably carry on at 600-650ppm with plain waterings in between or after every second feeding
  • pH bouncing around between 5.8-6.3
lights
  • currently at 500ppfd, 18/6 - using 2x HLG 135W v2 Specs - drawing ~290W from wall

It's looking excellent!

One thing I'll say in regards to maximizing yield efficiently comes down to pot size. I much prefer using smaller 3 gallon or less size pots compared to 5 gallons or larger for indoor cultivation. I like the idea of 1 plant per sqft as it really fills the space and should certain plants get large then there is the opportunity to cull only but the best plants. Plus, ime, plants grow faster in smaller pots.

Nice to see you Death! :biggrin:

Gonna play around with 3 gallon pots next time I'd say! They'd certainly fit better on these self-draining saucers at least...
