Transplanting Autos Causes Stress. Myth?

I don't see any need or reason to transplant autos. Regular photos, sure!

The time is ticking when an auto sprouts. No matter how you look at it, transplanting will waste in time of the progress of your root system.

A fine example:
Most people transplant around 14 days. At the 14 day mark(probally a few days earlier with a very good start), I can easily turn on the rez of an EarthBox Jr. A transplant would take another 4 or 5 day before it could be done. It's important to get the plant 'on da rez' as soon as possible. An EB Jr girl will race ahead of A Regular EB and the Reg will eventually pass the Jr in size because of the bigger bank. The Jr girl gets on the rez much sooner.and finishes sooner.

The above is just my theory!
I wouldn’t transplant an auto either. But I am curious to see what happens lol. I really don’t think it’s gonna benefit and don’t understand why this is such a hot topic. Start it in its final pot. Boom, done.

It's very simple for me. If you're worried about your media being too hot for a seedling, just dig out a hole and place some milder stuff to plant into.

I've done both. I see no reason to transplant.

I know why I need to transplant in my rock wool system. A 6 inch Hugo block holds almost 1 gallon of water. They retain water so well that a seed will simply drown before the block would dry down enough for the seed to breath. I have actually drowned some seeds in the 1.5" starter cubes watering too soon. The rock wool is like a sponge. That said; I have been experimenting with transplanting at day 4 from germination and it appears they are stronger plants. I have logistical problems starting plants on different nutrient schedules - I cannot. I can probably stretch out the transplant by 3 days tops. The seeds don't give a shit about my schedule

I’ve transplanted a number of times in the past with no bad effects. If you know how to transplant plants it shouldn’t be an issue. But I realized at some point- because I’m a dufus- that I was just adding an unnecessary step due to old habits. Not knocking it though. I can see a number of instances where someone might want to do it for space considerations or something. If you don’t have to transplant, then I wouldn’t if only to eliminate the extra steps.

Food for thought, would you all still consider transplanting when growing regular (non feminized) autoflowers? Veg to sex in a small pot, transplant upon sexing?
Pretty much the only way I'd normally transplant in the future. There's always the exception to the rule, but it would be rare for me with autos.

I'd probably plant them the same way to save the hassle, personally. Isolate the males when it reveals. At least that is the way I have done it with the auto regs that I have. Unless, I was tight on space and getting another run ready for the tent while a current run was finishing up, then I might consider tranplanting.

Dropped into water on 2/7/22 transplanted on 3/12/22….39 days in cups…were showing pistils upon transplant….. When into new pots they got comfortable and continued to grow some more I transplant all my autos with no problem…. Plants on the right Into full flower, plants on the left still stretching……..woof

But what would they be if you direct planted in the final pot?
We don't know!

Just playing Devil's Advocate. :eyebrows:
ive done into final pot.....does not make me motivate me more to do it...especially when at certain times i can germ 30-40 seeds.....i dont have room to have that many pots.....why doing solo cuts out the stragglers and misfits
