New Grower Think I have preconceived misconceptions of auto's

I've grown photos for a couple decades, am just starting to mess with autos. Your fears are not unwarranted.
I grew out 2 Northern lights autos this summer. Good growth, healthy plants...completely unworthy of smoking. Great bag appeal... 2 joints back to back for a buzz. Completely unmarketable.

The breeder I chose was one you don't see a lot of on this forum. So maybe that has a hand in it (not going to name them, I did a journal if you wanna find out)

I will do 1 more grow of autos, to give them a fair shake, I see the followings some of the breeders have amassed.

So, I would say choose carefully and listen to the advice given. My next tent will house Mephisto seeds. They seem to be on top of the heap around here... honestly not to worried about this next grow, but, this is a last chance grow for autos and me... I need a functional medication... not a placebo.

I'm with u on this.If these 2I got going now don't make nothing I'm done with autos..I've growled from around 4 different seed banks and I can't get but around a half ounce out of them..like I Said if this turns out I'll start cutting on my mother clone any that I use outdoors.But good luck on your grow...

Hey mikey im sorry to hear about your bad experience with autos so far.
Can you tell us what seed banks youve been using/ growing out.
If you ever want to give autos another try one of us would be happy to help you out.
Most autos from good breeders will easily yeild 3oz a plant 4-7oz when you get dialed in.
Some of the top growers are pulling crazy weights from autos

Really appreciate all the replies guys. Spent most of last night going through peoples journals and have decided I will go with autos after all!

Now just to decide a strain....

From my initial look at peoples diaries I fancied Sour Jack as Jack Herer is my favorite strain of all time however it doesn't look like I can get that from one of the seed banks you guys mentioned. Had a good look on Mephisto and really like the look of the Alien vs Triangle [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG], then I was looking through journals on sweetseeds and saw the title of a thread, wait for it..........

Now, I am at work and can't read the whole thread, or any of it for that matter, but if it looks as good as it sounds and people have got some decent results from it then I think I may have found my first strain!

Don;t suppose any of you have any experience with it or read about it at all?

I know I am not a master ..rookie at best at these plants.but I can tell you that reading up and trying methods that have worked for others , there is room for improvement. First thing I learned ..genetics..genetics genetics. Buy from well known proven seed co.

Second one is Preperation.I purchased Auto White Window from Queen seeds. I truly wasn't ready to grow. My first plant was not impressive..good but only 30 g. I changed soil, nutes, lights..LST..that were suggested here on AFN.etc...new game. I just got done drying my last harvest..60.5g. And I plan on getting better harvests just by upgrading to COBS. So, for only having 2 full grows under my belt..I am improving yield already.
As for smoke..I don't..I grow for my wife. And she has been smoking for decades..she loves what I grow..it does the job and then some compared to other white widow she has had.

Seshwan, a couple questions. 1st are you very limited with space, why are you growing in a pc case? I see a lot of people do this, and if its cause that is all you have room for fine but no matter what you grow your yield won't be big in a pc case. Unless your pc was from the 80's lol. You may want to look at more potent strains. Mephisto is the best hands down, sorry they just are! They give the most freebies, some of the highest quality, best customer service, and if your in the U.S. they ship from the U.S. The others are good just there is Mephisto, and then everyone else. If trying autos for 1st time I can't recommend Mephisto more. Also just cause you see a thc% don't believe it. You have more to do with the percentage than a breeder telling you a percent. I just bought 4 seeds from drop last week and they gave me 12.

I've tried from crop king _flash seed_mephisto and I'm using pro mix and my lights are suppose be 300 watt LED and my tent is 32 /32/56 I have used about all the nutrients they are to use and I keep it around 77 to80 and got fans going in and out

The thing about autos i think is this....if you make a mistake early in the plants life, the end yield of the plant is severely effected. A photoperiod strain with the same error can simply be corrected with a longer veg period. An auto on the other hand since they are on a set path to maturation are severely effected. Make it through the first 4 weeks without any serious errors, while pushing the plants with nutrients at the proper time and rewards will be there.

My favorite thing about autos is the challenge. Learning to master autos will definitely make you a better photo period plant grower as well.

Lot of veteran growers here that can help you guys struggling.

Crop King, and Mephisto are top shelf genetics. I have grown both, and are excellent. I have not grown photo's yet, but i wonder if your treating them like photo's? For instance when do you start your bloom nutrients? Many grower start them to early at like week 3-4. You can do it then, but hurting final size of the plant. Look up muddy, he has a write up about life cycle of autos. It will help a lot. 912GreenSkell nailed, although similar very different in veg cycle. Some veg longer where as you determine veg time with a photo. If you can grow photos you can do this you this. Good luck we are all here to help bro.
