Dutch Passion Think Big, AN, Autocobs

The next few weeks should be most enjoyable, good luck
Thanks Tony. I appreciate you taking the time to stop in and comment! I hope to produce some fine examples that we can all be proud of. Also, all the best to you and the rest of the team at Dutch Passion during this holiday season. May 2019 be an incredible year for you all.

I love DP genetics they produce really well can't wait to see what you can do bro also nice dog in the avitar

Thank you. I’m really hoping that they start to take off... Sunday can’t come soon enough- I plan to move them to the new environment. When I got home from work, I had a look and my humidity was insane!!! 90% RH and 24C. I think I’m going to maybe just leave my fan and filter running super low and deal with 19C for the next few days... either that or see about just leaving the tent open for the next few days. I’m not big on this idea though as I’m a bit concerned about what foreign pests or insects might make their way in there and possibly cause even worse problems for me. I’m going to see where levels are at before bed. I zipped everything up about an hr ago and have my extraction running at the lowest setting on my speed controller.

If you want to maintain a specific temparature, just run your exhaust/filter fan using a thermostat, not a "speed controller." Isn't that just a dumb dimmer switch?; has no sensor or basis to "control" anything?

I have a Lux WIN100 Programmable Outlet Thermostat. I keep the temp. within a 2˚F window (turns on when temp. goes 1˚ above my set point, turns off when temp. goes 1˚ below my set point).

Hey thanks for chiming in and stopping by! I’ve looked at similar units and they’re extremely handy. The issue is with the environment outside my tent right now. I can have things in my desired range and within a min or two of my fan being on temps can drop by by as much as 6 degrees Celsius. I’ve witnessed it go from 25C to 19C in about 2 min. With that kind of a swing, I fear that I might burn out my fan from all the on/off on/off lol! What do you think? Is that a legitimate concern, or would nothing of the sort happen? I’m open to any and all input/advice...

I run the speed controller instead of a thermostat controller. I thought it was better to have continuous 02/c02 inline input to start with. And along with that a negative pressure in the tent brought on by an inline exhaust fan. So I run both in and out 24 hrs a day instead of exhaust only kicking in based on high temps.

Is one way better than the other for our plants in a tent? Ive always wondered about that.

Why/how do you presume "continuous 02/c02 inline input" is needed at all? Seems like another wacky myth. I can't see any rationale supporting continuous air exchange as needed or even advisable (particularly where temp. and other factors need to be controlled). Continuous air movement in the tent is totally needed. Yes, some or many growers strangely aspire to have continuous air input/exhaust, but periodic air turnover does just as well, is the usual way air exchange is handled, and allows temp. control (such as my thermostat/fan non-stop cycling 3-4 minutes on/ 3-4 minutes off).

People respire much more intensely than plants, and have no problem living even being crowded in rooms that do not have continuous active air exchange. The usual setup is thermostat-driven intermittent air exchange (thermostat turning on forced air heat or AC). Do you really think a few plants metabolize any quantity of O2 (or CO2) such that there is any significant alteration of the air content in a few minutes, even over hours, in a tent?

Ok. Just a quick update for now. I’ll post some pics later tonight. For the past 2 days I’ve just left everything zipped and running my fan and filter combo at the lowest setting. Things basically stayed at 58%RH and 19C the entire time. Although the temps are not ideal and lower than I prefer, the good news is that I’m not seeing anything to really be concerned about. And it’s only for another few days. I’ll be moving things into the new 5x5 on Sunday night. I’ll be back with more of an update later tonight.

Day 38
(So much for me returning to do a further update yesterday! )
Ok. Did a little bit of cleanup/defoliation on a few of the plants earlier. I’m moving them into the 5x5 tomorrow night. Once in there and I get an idea of how I want to lay things out and position things I plan on supercropping the main stem on the two taller plants. It appears I have two phenos- one more sativa-like, and the other a bit more compact. I’ve attached individual pics of each.
