Lighting The new DIY Section

Could anyone give me a general ideal of the tools/parts list for a MarsHydro 300-to-two-cob conversion? Just curious what else I'd need besides the lights themselves. My skillset for general handiwork is fairly low, so please assume "this fool has like a hammer and a screwdriver to his name" level of tool ownership, lol. Thanks much, y'all. :pass:

Hacksaw or dremel and a soldering iron. that’s about it

I think I'll be swapping my led box over. I wanna do a full run with just the autocobs and see how they come out. I believe in the light but unsure if I can handle the power with my lazy style lol.

I did my mars conversions with a drill and sander. I cut off the LED and sanded all the solder and paint off. Then I flipped around and used that side for the heatsink and the old back side was the new face for the leds.

Oh wow, I guess I could have done that. I picked up some aluminum sheeting from my hardware store this morning to make a new led mount and heat sink mount. Basically it will be the same as the old one with less of the removal. I was going to take photos and stuff of this upgrad Sm0. Should I start a thread here to document it? I don't want to step on any toes

You know before I started my journey here there were only a hand full of folks using cobs. It's only taken 5200 messages but the tides have turned and we are in a cob dominant forum now. Plants are bigger and electric bills are lower. As long as it's helping others you can post whatever you want where ever you want.

Right on man, I'll do a quick documentation of the process with some before after. I don't have a par meter or anything but it could be helpful to those wondering about the process.

A cheap par meter which most of us own aren't to accurate when it comes to colored leds vs white cobs anyways. I still don't own one of the thousand dollar ones that is accurate with colors yet.

Hi guys, can someone tell me if this looks safe to run? I dont wanna shock myself lol it's a viparspectra 300w converted to citizen 1212's :)
