Lighting The new DIY Section

Where did you get the grating? It would be perfect for a qb setup...
work scraps.... I've recently started trying to understand them QB I've no formal electric back ground other than building these cobs and some hps builds back in the day.
anybody recommend any thread on QBs that's for the average joe

Does anyone care to shed a lil light on whether or not a pair of these drivers will run decent cob(s)???
Hoping to re-purpose my first blurple into something useful...well, at least more useful lol !!!
Thanks in advance, keep up the great info and posts guys !!!

Hey there, they will run the cobs but the power you’d get wouldn’t really be worth it. On a 36v cob it works out to 10 watts each and on a 50v cob around 15 watts. I’d skip the driver and get something a bit more powerful and reliable.

Yeah, I'm catching that vibe completely, I'm may just use the Sink/Fans/Case to house some decent new guts kind of deal.
Thanks a lot man !!!

That’s exactly what I’d do. Scrape the leds off and clean the paste then you have a nice base. On my last few builds I just mounted the heatsink to the frame of the light and scrapped the sheet the leds were on. It’s rewarding when the light first shines.

I have a spectra 290 from 2011. I paid $750.
Actually draws 292 watts.
It's done very well over the years but I just notice the middle section is not working.
I have extra drivers for it also.

Could I upgrade this old panel?

Any of you guys remember IrishBoy and his led grows? That's what steered me to buying this panel.

No markings

Has 5 of these

I need to add a 1.5'×3.5' or 1'x4' area of flower light to my 4x4 tent. I have zero components. I am handy with tools etc. How cheaply can I build a high quality light?
I like the Rigid 2 light design. Or the HLG quantum design. Really dont care just as long as it is great for veg/flower but especially has to be a good flower light.
