- fine-ass '22 harvest!
...true dat! Other breeders and fine chuckers say the work goes exponential when you start delving deeper into F-gen's with multiple cultivars -Yeah the DRC will probably be a tougher one to narrow in on the phenotype variations. I prefer to self the plants for the F2 stage IMO it seems to lower the % of phenotype variations at that stage of a breeding project you obviously still get a good variety of variations just slightly less of them. I do plan on running the DRC this winter indoors and furthering work on it as it really hit all the desired traits I'm looking for.
The hobbiest grower n pollen chucker in me really likes new F1 crosses with wild phenotype variations but the business man in me understands the need for stable genetics with consistency. I enjoy both sides of working with this amazing plant.
The time and resources it takes to do it proper really demonstrate why it's work that can't be rushed, and Lady Luck always has her fickle finger on the scales!
Seems a fair bit of what we see "commercially" are F1 and/or S1, not that it's always a bad thing but not always good either... Nor does the "deeper worked" stuff pan out when they make new batches of seeds. This is why I had bailed off of Dinafem (before their demise ), I had too much crap show up too many times!
To date, Sweet and Female in particular have done the best for me from the commercial end of the seed bizz... Did you see the OD Grapefruit I had a few years ago? If you're looking for a great Sativa-dom' breeding candidate that's already well tuned for speed and OD life, give her consideration!
The Skunk Special (sweet fruity pheno) was one of the most terp' rich plants I've ever had, so much so that harvest/trim made me literally a bit ill from the olfactory overload, even though it was super delish' ...lemon PEZ candy!
...oh, that is some fine-ass bud right there! ... and what a bloody haul too, looks like it's gonna be a green stanky Christmas for some lucky folks- :smoking:The trimming is finished and I pick up a faint chocolate smell from the Northern lights. Love the smoke she produced one pound fifteen and seven eighth's ounces.
As for the Mystery plants they all smelled like cat piss and very larfy I tried a bud = They all went to compost
More thoughts and grow knowledge obtained for sure this year. Happy Farming
Well bugger and fek, the whole lot of Mystery sucked that bad?! Here I am angling for cat piss too ... I gather the smoke was horrid,...weak? Harsh/nasty? ...what a shame bro', they didn't look bad to me but pics are just that only-- pics!
...hey, I'm the tardy one around here- ... and I don't have diddly-swat to deal with compared to you (and poor Jean)!Hey y'all. I'm sorry I'm not able to read everything that's above here I've been so damn busy my eyes are going cross all the time. Trimming does a lot to your eyes and your hands.
I scan through some of the pics down through here real quick and read some of the comments.
I want to thank you guys
it's been a great grow year I've had a lot of fun growing you guys this year. I hope we can do it for many years to come. Everybody's grows look awesome. Everybody did a really good job even if they think you didn't you still did.
I know growing can be tough sometimes. We've all had our share of disappointments. It happens it happens to the very best of us. You can't dictate what a plant's going to do or the conditions that you're dealt out during the grow when you grow outside. It's kind of like playing cards. You're just dealt the hand you're dealt, just deal with it. LOL
The grow gods know that I've had plenty of grows that have went South.
Been trimming my ass off. I've already got 108 plus hours at the farm. I'm not sure how many here on my grow.?a lot I'm sure. I've sharpened my scissors at least once. I've dry trimmed, wet trimmed, sat trimmed, and stood trimmed, I have trimmed about every position I can imagine. The farmer doesn't have as many workers this year as he usually does. Not sure why didn't ask just banking the hours.
Most of the crop here in my garden I've took on a two-stage harvest. No different with the skunk hero. I took the ripe large buds and colons from the skunk hero yesterday morning.
Small wonder your eyes are getting wonky,... I'm now needing reading glasses for this work! Try a mild pair, like 1.0 or 1.25, it might help relieve some strain?
Yuppers, the biggest X-factor in the OD Comp is that very thing: outdoors! ...so many possible curveballs, some of which we don't even get to swing at-
But I'm stoked to see relatively little drama this year, no rippers, busts/close calls... no major pestilence... Weather was the Bitch this year it seems- -one of the curveballs we don't get to swing at!
--- damn she fine! .... those colors are fantastic GTG, I love that chocolate-grape leaf color especially... Superb buds too, another winner from Jean-O!Skunk hero @Jean-O genetics
How's her aroma at harvest?
Take your time GTG, post at your convenience -
... they ripened beautifully 420'! I'd be tempted to take WWBB or GF on the early side just for the zippy buzz and the terp profile/richness, if your nose knows and sez.... Again, I'm double happy about WWBB not melting away on ya, wish you had clones coz this may be a superior pheno! Alas, clones are whole grow gig all their own....both my entriez are about 95% cloudy now & i'm jus waitin on amber am hopin i might be able to get two of my remaining four girlz down this next week, but we'll jus hafta see what nature sez, lol
