Lighting TEST: 2Autocobs growing 2 autoflowers

Update:

WOOOO! Plants are looking good and growing fast! Sure seem to be loving the lighting! I turned the res back on now as the growth is rapid. 620 ppms of solution in the tank and they are taking it well. I'm so eager to see these near the end lol! And Green Poison is a great strain, really nice Indica dom bud!

It most certainly does! I'm very excited to see just how good a grow I can get with a mere 110 watts of lighting... I suspected crazy growth so I used 2 gallon pots to control growth a bit. The ducksfoot stuck in the corner is a re-veg that is going outdoors soon as a stealth grow plant.

Wots with the "testing"..... Seems rather exuberant if you ask me.... Lol....

Yes, it's amazing what efficiency can do, that is, the highest conversion of available Watts to PAR...... The other day when GN spilled the preliminary beans on the follow up to the HS1, with promised "substantial" efficiency gains and "game changing" lenses, I wondered abouts the why's and how's of COB vs Single Diode rigs..... Oh well

But just to give an idea of efficiency, i happen to have 2 Ultimates going under different lights..... With everything else being the same, food, temps, etc...

To the left 900 w Chinese Viparspectra with 5 w diodes and to the right a 75 w HS1...... Day 40

Not much of a difference, and the one under the HS1 has been more heavily defoliated, simply because its next to the door so easy to fiddle with without having to do any ballet style balancing moves lol!.....

Sure, there's some spill over, reflection and diffusion going on, but still.... Rather illuminating....

And oh, how I envy you sleuthing duck handlers....

The 1 thing I have noticed between the cobs and the 3w/5w diodes is that all of the nodes below the main top node all want to catch up and keep growing up to the lights with the cobs. You can kinda see it in your pics @Corgy if you compare right under the top node down its fuller with more nodes branching out and up instead of staying kinda tight to the main cola with the single diodes. Ive noticed with my plants that once they hit a distance where the light intensity starts to really stack the upper section the mid and lower growth starts to really explode up to get more of that COB goodness lol. I have only really seen my plants do this with training/topping or with my outdoor ladies that are in full sun.

Update:

Things are looking good in the tent! Plant growth is accelerating now! From the plant color, looks like I need to up the nute a bit, will go from 600 ppms to 700. I'm getting excited now.Almost wish I'd used the bigger pots, but still, we'll see what a standard 2 gallon pot can do!
