New Grower Sweet Seeds - First LED Run!

Went to have a look at the ladies this morning and the tent was covered in condensation (actually dripping down the walls) and the hygrometer was reading 99% on the floor and 89% at canopy level!!

The soil is still wet from the flush, they dont seem to have drank much at all really. Both have grown another inch though...

I've had a window and a door open in the room that my tent is in, and a vent open on the tent so i'm a bit unsure how it got like the amazon jungle in there. The only thing I can think is that the tent is too small and the soil too wet at the moment? Think I need to invest in a dehumidifier.

Peace

Great grow diary NuteBurn. Subbed to keep an eye on the goodness.

Hope you managed to dry your girls knickers!

Hello nuteburn mate. If you have a window open into the room then it may be getting too cold in the dark period. Too big a difference between night and day temperatures will cause condensation which is NOT good at all unless you are trying to grow mold...

I also am running pretty high humidity, it varies between 50-70%, but i do not see condensation.

So I am using this "bud rot stop" I bought on ebay to protect from rot. I have been spraying every 6 days for the last 4 weeks of flower and have no rot. It is organic.

Hey Nuteburn

I run a dehumidifier at night because I've so many ladies and they all sweat and perspire all night long they're like a natural humidifier.

At night as the temperature drops the airs ability to hold water reduces and the water leaves the air and settles on anything and everything.

This constant cold/wet -> warm/dry -> cold/wet cycle is perfect for mold spores to germinate and spread.

You want to keep the shift in temperature and humidity minimal and gradual as possible.

Thanks for the suggestion mate i'll have a look on ebay for that stuff just in case. The temps do go up and down quite a bit so i'll have to think of a way to regulate them in the future!

Hi Happy, thanks for looking in on my thread. I've actually just bought a small dehumidifier with a 500ml capacity so that should do a decent job in my grow space (60cm x 60cm x 150cm). The temps are going up and down a bit at the moment because the weather can't make it's mind up. Got some cooler weather on the way so hopefully the dehumidifier will help keep moisture at bay when it's lights off!

Think i'll close the window in the room so it keeps warmer up there. Might sync my fan with the lights on/off cycle so it's less gusty and cool in the tent when the lights are off - do you think this a bad idea? Do you need air circulation 100% of the time or would I get away with this? 18/6 schedule. I would keep the extraction on at all times obviously...

It depends how good a job your dehumidifier does. I would keep the circulation fan on at all times. Airflow is a good thing if you want to combat mold as it makes the spores have difficulty settling and germinating. Extraction on during daylight definitely as you want to reduce heat and make negative air pressure bringing in fresh CO2 laden air. However extraction during the night is not strictly neccessary. I would make the dehumidifier run 24/7 and have a trial of turning the extraction off as the lights turn off. Watch the humidity, if it starts rapidly raising turn the extraction back on again. See if the humidity goes down. Basically figure out if extraction on at night is neccessary or not. My dehumidifier is powerful enough I leave the room closed at night so it stays warm and the dehumidifier keeps the room not only dry but also warm (as mine produces a bit of heat as well).

I hope that helps! Really work on figuring out whatever way you can to get those temperature and humidity dialed in. I've got my night temps hovering around 19-20c and day temps around 23-25c with humidity around 40-55%.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed, succinct reply! Great information, i'll have a fiddle about with the extraction on/off schedule and see what happens to the RH. The dehumidifier will arrive in the next few days so i'll see if it has a positive effect. Many thanks once again Happy, I really appreciate the advice man!

Hey NuteBurn

Any time bro.

I've been doing a variety of indoor grows in several different locations with several different setups over the years. Everything from attic grows, closet grows, entire room grows, hand watering dirt, drip feed coco, NFT, built my own 48 plant aeroponic setup, RDWC, you name it. I've made every mistake under the book already so you don't have too! :)

Feel free to private message me anything time you need me brother and I'll swing by your thread. I tend to stumble around this site and I tend to happen on the threads with the most activity that land at my feet. So if I'm not back again soon, call me back.

Let me know what happens with the dehumidifier. If you haven't already make sure you have a digital hygrometer to record max-min temps and humidity. Record them each day as well as whatever changes you make to the room to see their effect. Once you have hte room dialled in you don't have to worry so much about checking max-min's every day, but until it's dialled in keep a good eye on it. The first thing to get right in ANY indoor grow is the environment (light, airflow, temperature, humidity, freshair/co2).

Happy to help
