Possible hydrogard alternative, any opinions?

Go with hydroguard IMO or sm90 I use hydroguard and can tell big difference from my tank compared to my buddy who uses a off brand of the two. Also hydroguard is great for soil also.

They are gallon baskets, I put 3 quarts of hydroton, to cover the basket holes, and then just a very thin layer of coco/pearlite on top to start the seed in and to keep light off the hydroton and out of the reservoir. I'm gonna do full updates, one side of my room will be fully converted over this weekend
