Ryder Die Day 35
Week five on the Ryder Die is dust in the wind.

Papa bear and Baby bear doing their stretching.

Feeding with 2g/gal MC, .5g SC, and .5g cal/mag pro. H2o is rain water ph'd after adding nutrients. I don't feed every watering. I mix it up a bit. Water water feed, water feed feed, water feed water. Keeping it light on the nutrients as advised by Sofem.

The tent VPD has been 1.2 to 1.4 for the past week. Here is a link to VPD calculator

Light meter reads 50k, up 13k from last week, for reference.

Light is at 19/5 for the remainder of the grow. I let the plants grow up to the light and will adjust if necessary.

Papa Bear - Bag was a bit light at lights on, so h2o until the weight of the bag felt right.

That's it for this weeks display of underachievement. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming :goauto:

Ryder Die Day 42
Week six on the Ryder Die is in the rearview mirror.

Papa bear and Baby bear about done with their stretching, if not already finished.

I upped the feeding to 2.5g/gal MC 1part, .5g SC, and .5g cal/mag pro, total 580ppm. H2o is rain water ph'd to 6.5 after adding nutrients. I don't feed every watering. I mix it up a bit. Water water feed, water feed feed, water feed water. Keeping it light on the nutrients as advised by Sofem. I water when the pots feel less than 50% than how they feel when wet, which usually means a watering with or without feed every 12 to 16 hours.

The tent VPD is 1.2 to 1.5 for the duration of the grow. Here is a link to VPD calculator

Light meter reads 50k, for reference.

Light is at 19/5.

Papa Bear - I am far from being plant whisperer, so my thinking is the yellowing along with the spotting is what makes me think magnesium. Any input on this is highly appreciated. I just did a slurry test on both pots. Ph is 6.2 and only 48ppm which is seriously low. The slurry test was taken from two different areas of the pots, about 4 inches down. From the PPM, I think I can feed with most every watering as the plants seem to be using everything I give them. Thoughts?

So will see if we can get this bump in the road figured out and get them both back on a good healthy path

For anyone wondering why there is no Mama Bear, she was eaten by an earwig at a very young age. :sadcry:

That's that for this week :joy:

Still alive in spite of me. I may be one of those folks who just can't grow worth a hoot indoors. Oh well.

Hi Kyote,

Looks like you will get some bud, and they are not done yet. You got them all the way through.

As to possible improvements, to my eye, they look a tad lanky, possibly from genetics, but possibly looking for a bit more light. What is your QB?

I doubt that there is anything wrong with your nute setup or soil. Promix, Megacrop and the additions will do the job well. As to delivery of the nutes, Autopots do a better job than manual in my opinion, so trying those might be worth considering. A couple plants in my current grow are now on the reservoir, and doing well in Sunshine#4 with some extra perlite. SS#4 is pretty much the same thing as Promix.

Are you going to start another grow this winter?

Lighting is no problem on them, a 320w qb. And they have gotten plenty of light throughout the grow. I didn't do any training, nothing to them, just let em go natural so to speak. The canna ahlloween photo contest was taken with Papa Bear and I won 5 packs of Sweet Seeds for my photo, so I guess this grow is a win no matter what eh? Bout time I looked at it like that

I have been doing a lot of reading on promix hp and i started going with a lower ph, around 6, or 6.1, as the promix is buffered with lime. I will be doing one more indoor grow after this as I have some Seedstockers that need to grow. I am going to give MC and the promix hp one more run and see how i do. If I don't see some good results, I'll make a change, probably to Gaia green and soil which I am looking at doing outdoors this summer.

I did check both of my PH meters against ph drops and they were both out of wack. I tried recalibrating them and neither would hold a calibration so i tossed em both in the garbage and ordered a new Apera. I'll use the drops until the Apera arrives mid December.

Thankfully, I have a decent stash from the summer outdoor grows and am growing indoors more for something to do than for the smoke itself, if that makes any sense. Yet I would like to figure out this indoor grow before I die

And thanks for stopping by. Hope all is good up your way. :d5:

Good to hear from you @Kyote. Hey, if you won some seeds with your photo (very spooky by the way), you are already good, the bud will be a bonus.

My grow this winter is much the same motivation wise. I have enough Cosmic Queen and 24 Carat to keep me supplied for months, so this grow is just to play with some new strains, and learn more about this mischief, including making some seeds. If I end up with some nice bud that is tasty and different, so much the better.

You'll love the Apera. Mine is still a happy camper after being on duty for a year. I haven't even bothered to recalibrate - every time I check it with the reference buffer, it is no worse than 0.02 or so off perfect, which is more than good enough for me. I store it in KCL that I made up myself - I just replace the stuff in the storage cap as needed to keep it clean. The commercial storage solutions are stupid expensive in my opinion, and a supply of clean home made solution seems to work perfectly.

Whatever you do, don't store your probe in plain water or let it dry out, either can kill it. Are you getting the version with the replaceable probe?

On the health front, the other half and I, and our pup, are all doing fine. Not a lot happening in our location covid-wise, but it will get cranking here before the winter is up. We are being pretty careful about it. The news about vaccines seems encouraging, other than the fact that us Canucks are unlikely to see a supply until spring or summer if not later next year. With luck, we can avoid the virus until then. Boy, you have to feel sorry for medical staff during this mess. If people do not take this seriously and behave themselves, our hospitals could be completely overwhelmed before the winter is over. The good old US of A is doing its best to illustrate the problem for us.

Good luck with the rest of this grow, and with the next one Kyote, I look forward to seeing how you make out. :pighug:
