F*cking Combustion with Texada Timewarp
Quick introduction: year-long lurker. Last year, I ventured into auto flowers for the first time with some Crop King Seeds "Early Miss" and Crop King Seeds "Trainwreck" (I also grew two photoperiods - Blueberry and Texada Timewarp.) I've grown photoperiods for a few years but with where I live, we often have unpredictable late summer/fall weather where the rains don't let up and suddenly your harvest looks pretty dismal due to mould or mildew. We've done the umbrella, build a tent, plant in pots so we can move them... but even so, autoflowers struck me as a great way to supplement our photoperiod harvest. And I was so happily surprised with what the autos supplied me with. Only one was planted in ground - the rest were in pots around my property or on my back deck. Only one little bud lost to mold and such a quick trimming compared to my usual week-long evening session of photoperiod trimming. There was one particular Trawinreck that outshone the rest of the auto flowers. She was planted in the largest pot we had and placed in the prime location on our south-facing porch. Total dry harvest weight was approx 90g. While I've seen way larger yields from growers on here, I was quite happy with my foray into auto flowers.

2017! For 2017, I finally settled on a few different varieties. The current plan is:
2 Early Miss (Crop King Seeds)
2 Euforia (Dutch Passion)
1 AK-47 (Canuk Seeds)
2 Amnesia (World of Seeds)
2 Black Cream (Sweet Seeds)

(and so far, one photoperiod - Vanilla Kush (Barney's Farm.)

The plan is to split the germinating into two different time periods.
I actually popped the 2 Early Miss three weeks ago (prematurely-- in a huge wave of excitement over the next growing season) and they're living in my kitchen windowsill, relaxing outside for sunny afternoons. The weather here hasn't been agreeable and nature everywhere seems late... this time last year I already had a suntan from the garden...

Anyway - the Early Miss are already 3w.
Two days ago I started the 2 Euforia, 1 AK-47 and 1 Vanilla Kush(photo.) I plan on starting the others in about 2-3 weeks time.

I use a glass of water for 8-10 hours, then the wet paper towel method until taproots are ~1cm. The seeds get planted in small pots that can fit on my windowsill for the evening/morning until temperatures are favourable outside. They get transplanted again (!) to their final homes when they're a couple inches tall - usually a few different sets of leaves.

3-6 will probably reside in pots on my deck. I think I'm going to get try to put wheeled trays under their pots this year so they can be moved into the corner when company comes... Maybe dress them up with some petunias? >.< ha! We might have garden space for one or two plants but usually reserve that for our photoperiods. The rest will have to be in pots around the property but seeing as we only have 4-5 SUPER large pots, the rest will go in 10gal or less. I did see significant less flower on each of the plants in the smaller pots in 2016 (they were also probably started later in the summer(July?)... so either or perhaps) And while I have access to a LOT of property, the further from the house I go, the more I have to deal with deer/elk - or in certain areas, our livestock. So pots placed where I can is probably the route I'll go this year. There's been lots of greenhouse talk lately... maybe in a year or two I'll have THAT space instead. A girl can dream.

This grow journal is as much for me as it is for anyone - I seem to have most of my notes from last year so at least I will have a log of what I've done this year. I haven't figured out yet what I'm going to fertilize with. I've got access to cow manure and alpaca manure, and last year's soil was a mixture of that with some potting soil and some sea soil. Things went well (they produced! it was sparkly! the smoke (vape) has been totally rad!) but I'm wondering what sort of soil amendment I should be doing... I did pick up some naturally mined zeolite. Last year I used a bud booster (which I can't find anymore) so I'm on the hunt for something new. I haven't decided if I want to go 'organic' or not. The cow manure and alpaca manure is not organic - they are grass fed and grain fed.

I'm super excited to see the Black Cream-- I hope I get the purple phenotype! Dutch Passion also has such a reputation/following that I'm also looking forward to the Euforia.

Pictures to come as the girls grow!

Sounds like you have a great plan and some nice strains.Beast of luck and if you have questions just holler.

I'm subbed. Love NW coast grows. :spels:
Spring seems late here too. I know last year this time I had plants keeling over from the heat in my sunroom, this time I'm wishing for a bit of sun. Let's hope it straightens out and the NW has a great growing season!

If a late start means a late end, I guess I'll take it. Last season I dealt with late September winds (the photoperiods were thrashed but it's amazing how well a broken branch/arm can recover and soldier on) and rain - we even had frost quite early.

Yes, they're tough plants for sure. My problem is the light quality goes down hill fast after mid September so they just don't perform so well even with the solarium...Hope to have most of em wrapped up by then, but I do have a couple photos i'm really hoping to finish out.

Hey bud...90 g's for an outdoor auto is excellent...not many folks out there get that much from them outdoors!! I am very interested to see what the autoeuforia can do outdoors...be prepared for a potentially long finish though(i recently grew one and it took over 100 days, and same for the AE that dudeski grew).

Ahhh... thanks for the tip. It's a good thing I decided to pop them first then (they finally surfaced out of the dirt yesterday, was a stressful two days waiting for them...ha!) 100 days/roughly 13-14 weeks will put me mid-August, which is well before the rains should hit. I mean, I'd love to have a new harvest in July so here's hoping Amnesia and Black Cream go a little faster... maybe I should start them today. I'm on the fence about getting more seeds, too...

I'll have to check and see what photo strains you're growing. I tried to find "fast finishing" so I wouldn't be harvesting too late into October, which is when everything goes downhill here (or late September, depending on the year.) I'm looking at adding another indica photoperiod to my 2017 plan... not sure if I'll be able to get clones this year from my buddy or not.

yes, same here on the end time scenario hehe. I was told by the breeder of my photoperiod plant that it could be hard to finish at my latitude and that has been my experience in the past.
I just updated my grow thread there's a new pic there. I'm hoping with the sunroom I can pull it off!
