Outdoor Sockelf's 2017 PNW Island Grow [amnesia, black cream, euforia, ak-47, early miss]

Here's the Euphoria (Dutch Passion) just popped. Hi, girls!
IMG_4026.JPG

Here are the Early Miss gals, at about three weeks. A touch of burn on their leaves at the beginning of their life... I think it was too much manure in my soil.
It's been since amended for everyone else coming and these girls actually were topped up with some nice potting soil (they were floppy and leggy due to poor light conditions - our
weather has been the worst lately.) Sorry, ladies. I promise I'll be better. They're looking good now, with decent growth. A little washed out in this photo.

And the saddest thing of all:
IMG_4025.JPG

Waaahhhhh... it looks like something ate out the bottom of my (photoperiod) Vanilla Kush. <sigh> Wasn't the best start to my morning, that's for sure.
Another seed is soaking... RIP little one.

I'm chomping at the bit to get my Amnesia and Black Cream going but trying to pace myself since the weather was awful again today (wind! rain! hail!)
What is this, March?
I'd like the seedlings to bask in the sunshine rather than grow leggy (like the deceased VK) on my windowsill.
I think I'm gonna order one or two more auto flower varieties from somewhere local-isn so they're here soon.
A buddy is supposed to be bringing some (photoperiod) Blueberry clones over. I'm hoping to trade with a friend for a (photoperiod) Romulan or (photoperiod) Purple Candy.
I like having a nice variety to choose from.

Welcome to afn ,I to am from the pacific northwest Oregon and rain ☔ definitely can be a challenge and so far haven't had spring sun much just rain and clouds mostly .

Today was spent getting my soil ready for the ladies' forever homes. I transpalanted both Early Miss and one Euforia. One Of each will live on my porch and the others will get placed here abouts
IMG_4137.JPG
Apologizing already for the horizontal pics... I'll figure it out one day. I'm hoping to only have 5 autos on my porch this year and the rest tucked away in the above little nook. It's distance enough from the house that I'm not sure if deer/elk/bunnies/bears etc will be a threat but I made one cage so far. The other Euforia will be placed here (with more friends!) but she's too young to be so far from home ;-) My paranoid parenting is showing, lol

So I also had to declare RIP to the AK-47... it just never germinated despite 12 days of damp paper towel etc. To console my grieving heart, I picked up a few more seeds: 2 Sweet Tooth (auto), 2 Cheese (auto) and 2 Canuck Cookies (photo.) Since I just started soaking 2 amnesia and 2 Black Cream seeds today, the Cheese and Sweet Tooth will probably get started in another two weeks.

The second Vanilla Kush (photo) has sprouted. I'm hoping she makes it because I'm out of seeds. She will get planted in the ground with another photo or two... I have a small, dedicated area for photoperiods.

The weatherman is calling for sunshine for the next few weeks, in the late teens to late 20s, so I'm looking forward to seeing everything take off growth wise. The Early Miss (which I started too early, ha) seem like they're just itching to stretch and get out of childhood, heheh.

So, yeah... it's been a busy few days in the garden since it stopped raining. Lettuce and broccoli and kale and Swiss chard, Brussels and peas and beets and herbs and garlic... sweet corn and peppers and then all the berries and apples and peaches and plums.... Aaahhhhh!!!!! I can't wait for all this harvesting. Tomorrow is for corn and bush bean planting and making some small batch rhubarb preserves. Right now? Time to pack the Haze, find a drink and get some BBQ chicken in my belly!

Wow nice strain selections and also nice veggie selection!

It's a lot of work but ain't it a blast? Sounds like a great day!
Wow sweet corn and peaches :bighug:

I'm a sucker for an uplifting Sativa (and I love strain names... I'm already starting to think of what I want for next year... bummed I couldn't get any Brooklyn Sunrise (DP) from within Canada) I am looking forward to having a variety to choose from! And seeing all the different strains in their glory as they grow.

Yeah - someone gave me some extra organic veggie starts so I have a little more than I usually do, but I'm feeling okay about it! I'd really like to can some salsa this year.

My first time growing sweet corn! I actually live on a dairy farm, so we have acres of grainy, feed corn. Hoping my house is far enough away that they don't cross pollinate :|

I've got one peach tree and last year the harvest was OUTRAGEOUS

... Yes - so outrageous that it deserved it's own Aquaman pic. The tree is young but I was getting bowls of peaches every day. I made a to-die-for Peach Vanilla Honey Butter. And some Blackberry Peach Spiced Jam. And smoothie bags for the freezer. Interested to see what i get this year since I don't know much about pruning peach trees and didn't prune much at all. It's on the list to research :p

Great stuff bud!! We grow most of our yearly produce and meat. Just a couple of cows, pics, many chicken and a ton of veggies with a variety of fruit. I grow wild blackberries, Haphask berries, strawberries, yellow raspberries, pink blueberries, bluberries. My wife makes most of them into jam and jelly. Really nothing more satisfying than producing your own food!!(okay maybe producing your own weed is a bit more rewarding :D )We've grown sweet corn a few times, but always struggles with it since we dont use pesticides.

Too bad you couldnt get any brooklyn sunrise...really a tremendous strain! Not sure if they are stocked, but i know GTAseedbank(used several times) and TrueNorthSeedbank both stock DP seed in canada.

Happy June 1!
Little update... we've finally had some sun so things are starting to take off. Though the sun has also brought wind...

Here's the backyard Early Miss.

Here's the backyard Euforia. She's going rather slow compared to her porch sister.

Early Miss porch sister, which im playing with LST for the first time. The lower preflowers do seem to be bulking up and growing stems so I'm kind of interested, though I wish both Early Miss were in the same environment now. The backyard plants get more hours of sunlight but it's less sheltered... the porch is definitely warmer.

And the seedlings getting going: two Amnesia (pink) two black cream (red) one photoperiod Canuck cookies.

I'm another week or two, I'll start the Sweet Tooth and Cheese.

Everything is flourishing right now; it's so exciting. Except those damn slugs on my broccoli and marigolds :-(
