Indoor Saving The Old Dragons

Week 0 - 2 - F4.

Alright folks, hope you are all well & growing. I'm dredging up this thread again, to give a last view on my Dragon saving. This time for the F4 run. The F4 will be the last in this thread, as the Dragons have been brought back from the brink & are doing well. They need saving no more.

This is really a trial run for my next breeding opportunity, where I try to make an auto from a photo. Due to space restrictions, I intend to grow them in solo cups, to give a broader choice range. I've been doing a lot of reading & swotting up over the last few months, and this seems to be the way to go for me. So this is a test run for that process.

With it being quite cold in the UK at the moment I am having some issues with temps, but the little plants are trooping on. The only effect so far is some bluing of leaf underneath, and some slowness in growth. I hope to have that more under control now, but as with all growing - we will see.

Week 0.

I have prepped my little solo cups, with holes in the bottom & placed a handful of seeds into sprout by my normal paper towel method.

It took only a few days for the majority to sprout. I was well chuffed by the high ratio, as previous versions were a lower percentages. Looks like leaving them to mature a little, rather than planting fresh from the plant is the way to go.

In the end I took 8 of the best seedlings, and used those. I'll probably crack a few more, once the males start to appear.

Week 1.

A little slow to start, due to the cold. But perfect in every way & none of the old issues showing.

Week 2.

Began to see some of the cold issues in the below pics, but we are still growing fine. Up at about 20 degrees now, so in the safe zone.

Thanks for keeping it going and the hardwork, bringing these back!

Cheers mate. Very satisfying work, given we're now in the 'good times' part. I should be taking these a few more F numbers down, but only for the giggles.

Looking good @niceneasy . I too go the root riot cube, to double up solo cup (inner cup with soil and cube and holes in the bottom, outer cup takes away extra moisture), then into a tall 1.5 gallon or an 3 gallon airpot until finish.

I have two of my seeds from my spring chuck going right now, Stone Dragon x 24 Carat. About 2.5 weeks into flower. Two ladies (of course, the males were culled this time). One of the ladies is very squat and very dense with foliage. The other lady is quite a bit more open structured, although not much taller. She seems taller b/c of the open structure and less foliage I believe. They are both showing signs of color, a trait I looked for when I selected my male last Spring. The early purple male was very vigorous, easily doubling (at least double) the other males. Did a bit of LST over the past week to open her up and get some light and air to the inside of the canopy. Thanks for keeping your dragon work going, it is an inspiration to me and keeps my little bit of chucking moving forward.

Great work and patience mate, noticed early grow with male the buds turned colour and now this grow it's stem and leaf. Is the colour turn the same for each plant or can each plant be different ? I have more question I'd like to ask mate but I need to read this start to finish first, so be prepared mate!! cheers and again great work!

Good idea with the double cups, I may adopt that one.

The Stone Dragon x 24 Carat sounds nice. Do you have pics / thread?

Cheers mate, it has been a bit of a road, but worth it.

I have noticed that some are darker than others, and some have no marking at all. Those without the tint are slightly smaller than those with it, so it may just be a maturity thing. I'll count up later what the ratio's are.

No problem on the questions.

Unlike my previous grows, I have been really slacking about documenting my grows of late. Work is kicking my ass, and I can hardly find the time to read the threads I am interested in. I will try and get some pictures in the next few days and post.

So happy I found this grow mate, so much info it's amazing. I've only managed to make it to page 5 before I had question ping-pong around my head. I've always thought it was temp change/difference that made it happen because I've seen people grow purple kush( or any plant known to change colour) and get no purple/colour only green. So it's just low temp I'm learning that is "sometimes not always the case" but it helps turns the colour. BUT in around about way the temp drop lights off and rise again lights on might be best compromise to ensure colour change but not hurts plants growth to much. Is theory correct or am I over thinking.
