Indoor Saving The Old Dragons

Week 9 - F3:

Disaster has finally struck, and does so while I'm away from home - hence no pics. Reportedly the leaf damage on the three autos has went mental over the last three or so days, and they all look very poorly. Of course it has to happen while I'm hundreds of miles away with work.

60 days or so, is very early for the amount of damage & over all the plants, so there's no way it is just normal leaf loss. I will have to ride it out until I get home.

Week 9 - F3: Day 63.

Ok then, back at home and the plants are looking a little grim. Not the end of the world, but it brings their termination up a week or so. I'm going to cull at Week 11 or there about, when I get the chance. That will put them around the 80 day mark. I believe the little purple one will go sooner, as they are milky on her already. I always thought she would be first.

Things are not all bad, the buds are still getting bigger, top heavy in some directions. I raised the light a bit, as was about 6-9" inches from their tops, which is too close, and they seem happier for it. That may have something to do with their issues, as a lot of the symptoms fit. I'm also thinking that my flowering nutes may be at fault, so going to swap that out with a new one. Over watering as well, so I'm really going to have to go back to growing basics, and start following my own rules again instead of being lazy.

With the end only two weeks out, I have been thinking about what my next steps are (if any) in the Way of the Dragon. :dragon3:

Well I think the Old Dragons are well and truly saved now, which was the original intention. But I do think they still have plenty to give, so I intend to keep on this path until around the F5 range anyway. After that I want to bring in some fresh blood, and have been seeking out the perfect (available male) partner. I've seen plants like the ALF#5 and such around, and think that may be the way to go for me. Something out of the Dragon past, rather than something new. That's me all over.

For the F3 to F4 revising, I intend to change my methods a little. Instead of growing out a few larger plants, I am going to do about 10+ in solo cups. I've been doing quite a bit of research online, regarding the possibilities, and it makes sense for my set up. I can add and remove plants easily, and use my separate little veg chamber for any males I want to keep, without pollinating the girls until I want it to happen. Feeding and root size will be an issue though, but we will see. I can only try anyway.

That won't be happening for 12+ weeks, as my GSC needs to flower, which takes us to the start of December. I will continue with this thread, as it is still part of the same journey. So no going anywhere :)

Some pics now, as I'm supposed to be working rather than getting baked and writing an hour long thread update.

Group shot, looking quite poor in the leaf department.

They look similar to mine. I seem to be having the same trouble, but I think my issues are around to low cobs + too many cobs + no additional CalMag. My solution is to reduce MegaCrop to 2 grams/gallon from 3 grams/gallon. Remove the Bud Explosion (Greenleaf Solutions P/K supplement) and add 1.5ml of liquid CalMagic from GH until I see a stop in the leaf problems. Also cobs have been raised 6-8" abd I shut one down completely.

I now have 6 ladies of the Stone Dagon variety, and I am hoping the last plant decides she wants to be a girl as well. Should make an excellent supply of nighttime meds as I am taking the first girl to 95-100 days. I remember reading others who grew SD saying it was very "narcotic-like" the longer you let her go, and 100 days seemed to be point of diminishing returns.

Yeah, think I've bollocked up somewhere in the feeding program with these, and then didn't catch it in time as I was away - that's the excuse I'm sticking with anyway lol :) I intend to just ride them out now for a couple of weeks, and then down they all go. The little purple is there anyway, and smells really strong - probably a week to go on her.

Good luck with your Dragons, I'm sure to be about coveting your girls.

Week 10 - F3: Day 70.

Even with the leaf damage of the previous weeks, the buds have come on a lot in the last days. We are not there yet, but the small one is coming down this week (11), and then the other two at week 12.

I am seriously thinking about removing the dead / dying fans, but they are still tight on the plant, and do not want to come off by themselves. Usually in these cases, I would leave them on, but there are so many. Decisions, decisions.

Small - isn't she lovely :)

Week 10 - F3: Day 75.

No pics today, as the site is still figuring its way after update, but I'll add them later. I just wanted to update, while I remembered. The small black plant was cut on day 72, and the remaining two were cut today. I found today that bud rot had set in, and one of the reasons for the leaf turning. This is a first for me, and it's not like the buds were really thick or anything. This leads me to believe that the airflow needs sorting. and I do need to replace the fans I was putting off doing.

I didn't want to take the chance with the rot, so I basically took the entire top head from the middle plant. The buds were really dense, as are the ones on the tallest plant, even the lower ones. The black however was kind of whispy, but i think that's more to do with the light distance, and the care it received. This was an experiment to see what type of plants these seeds can produce, and the answer is still quite a few different varieties. The F3 - F4 run will continue as planned, using the small and many method.

Pics and details in a few days, once the site has everything running again.

@niceneasy , don't mean to stomp on your dragon thread, but I have mention these girls multiple times in here so I thought I would post some pictures of her on her chop day. Hope thats ok.

Chopped the first of my Stone Dragon ladies today. Day 96. Final yield is 134grams wet (~34 grams dry) You can see the full group of pictures, at my thread "Seymourbud's Soapbox" in the Mephisto genetics forum. For right now, a bit of dragon bud porn...
