Indoor Saving The Old Dragons

No pics today, just some thoughts on the two plants, as I've been comparing them a bit & they are very different in smell.

Plant 1, is the seeded green plant. This smells of lemon, menthol, spicy & fresh.

Plant 2, is the smaller purple one. This is the normal smell I have always had with my dragons. Earthy, musky, again spicy but in a different way. A deeper spice.

Plant 1 is about 2 weeks from getting the chop, as she will have been seeded for 6 weeks minimum then. She's starting to lose her leaves a bit, but I'm not really bothered about that at this stage. I was a little worried about Plant 1 being green, and also the mum for a supposed next generation of purple plants. But if there's a strong Lemon in this one, and her children, then I can handle that and might go in that direction instead.

Lemon Dragons I could live with.

Stoned ramble over. Update pics in a couple of days :)

Interested to see if they live up to your memory of them. Black Dragon seeds are hard to come by, they seem to be held closely. I would be interested to find out if there ever was a green "lemon pheno" of Black Dragon. Maybe you have stumbled on the one single phenol variation that could be a real prize. Good read, nice growing.

You guys have inspired me to move up my schedule on the durty dragons. I'll be trying to germ them next week, hopefully I'll get a couple of them to crack.

I'm stoked to see your success with the black dragons.

I hear you mate, I might give the Dragon Meds section a trawl and see if lemon is mentioned. I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself, as it might be nothing, but as soon as I thought Lemon Dragon, I was sold. We won't really know until these F3's are grown out, but I'm definitely going to grow them out now to check, before going back to the F2's for a purple.

Cheers mate, it has been more than worth the effort, and now we're going into unknown territory with strong plants, it's pretty exciting.

Let me know how you get on with the Durty. It might have been on one of your threads it was mentioned on again, but using sandpaper to scuff the seed seems to really do the job. I'm sure you'll be all over it anyway.

I just purchased a "seedcracker" device for cracking older hard to germ seeds with the express purpose of using it on the 2013 Breeder Vault Duurty Dragon's and some 2011 photoperiod Peyote Purple's that I wanted use as breeding stock. Haven't had any luck with the first 3-4 PP seeds and regular germ procedures, but looking back at my notes from 2012/2013, they were hard to germ back then. But the good thing about them is they had a high incidence of female/male ratio, like over 95% female/under 5% male. Finding that breeding male could be like finding gold for some of the things I would like to do. Hoping the seedcracker will up my odds. Willing to give anything a try!

Do you crack them from end to end or side to side. I asuM always want the

I'm curious, do you put the seed in the cracker endways or on the short side of the seam? I've got a micrometer that would make a good seed cracker

The directions have an illustration that show the seed in it as "end to end". That is after some softening of the shell with an h2o2 and water mix. I will take a picture of the directions and the seedcracker later this weekend and post them here for you to look at. I would think a micrometer would make a good seedcracker as it works on basically the same principle. This might as well have been a "As Seen on TV" product, and I saw it after midnight with bleary eyes from to much damn vaping of Stone Dragon. I can be a sucker when it comes to one function gadgets, especially when the one function is cannabis-related.

Week 15 - F2.

I estimate we're about 2 weeks out from chop, beginning to look ripe now. Seeds bursting out in bits. Main fan leaves getting very used up, but all on target.

Little purple is looking very healthy. Starting to fill out a bit, but we're never getting anything much from her. Not sure on the ETA for this one to chop, but we're looking 4+ weeks. Space is getting limited in there for such little plants.

How's it going all, yes I am back im about to start a new grow thread here in the next week or so. I have a lot of different dragon seeds that I have been trying to germ and have had no luck with anything sprouting.

I've had some crack open during the germination process, the Taproot barely pops out and it's as far as they've got. I'm guessing they're old hard shells I need to look into this seed cracker everybody speaks of.

Really like seeing the revival of these dragons, hope all has been well with everyone.

Happy growing,
Lever
