SANlight SANlight Q6W test grow

thanks @arty zan ... I now want a cover by moment for that macro action... View attachment 1036821... shit, that takes my Tamron on my SLR to the cleaners... impressed is not the word

I use my S8 for all my photography on AFN now (and for my main job of business out side of AFN), only getting the SLR out for the bud porn shots once in a wile, which reminds me that's a job for tonight... I spent near on 5 yrs in higher eduction learning all that stuff in analog form, from tilt shift to fill in flash, studio lighting and loads more (I have forgotten a fair bit now).... dam I love my S8 so much... I can do all that shit with a setting now at the touch of a button, just flipping amazing if you ask me... I'm not one of those photographers that think phones are killing the art, I believe they have opened it up wider... but still you need to understand composition, doesn't matter how good the phone is my mums pics are still out of focus and feet are still getting chopped off even after the years of me tell her...

@St. Tom few quick tips - frame your pics in 3's....e.g... sky, land, person... You should have an option of bringing up a grid in on your phone when in camera mode, I recommend you use it to frame your pics, don't worry about editing just now worry about the composition of the photo and that just alone will lift your photography heads and shoulders form most on here.... also have a go at differential focus, get a cola to fill the frame, nice and close with the back ground all nice and out of focus... also think angles, come in from the bottom and shoot from more of an up angle, this will get the light to flare around the leaves/buds in places. It's also good to have flash on wile dong this for filling in those shadows... Start to use you phone in pro mode and switch auto off, if you can put your ISO to 50 and adjust your shutter speed until you get more of a moody contrast. Again that alone will start to lift your pics... tip for the SANlight put your White Balance at 2900k and you will reduce that pinkish tone... and my best tip is to think of a style, find a shot that looks good and can be nearly reproduced ever time you open the tent... I have gone and made a setting in pro on my S8 for the SANlight tent so every time I take the pics the lighting and contrast are the same to give that style you have been noticing

For editing I can highly recommend the photoshop app, the free version is all you need, blows me away what it can do...

Happy Saturday everyone
Hi @Slater

Unfortunately "Moment" no longer support S8 and now only support s8+ and up, a real pain in the arse I know.
I managed to bid and win the only available S8 "Moment case" in the world! I also paid over the ods for it , as it was as rare as hens teeth and I wasn't not going to get it (sorry other bidder lol)
Sounds a bit far fetched I know but I really did search the web high and low and there aint another one available anywhere for sale! Anyone who knows me, knows when I search/research anything on the internet, I go the whole nine yards and then some!
The Moment S8 case was released as part of their Kickstarter campaign and has since been discontinued, since then they have moved on to only supplying phones cases for the S8+ (iphones too) and up, with these awesome lenses and cases. However my Moment S8 case doesn't fit their flagship "Anamorphic lens" with horizontal flare , for that cinematographic film look when filming on the phone.
So I will buy another phone at some point and get the case for the anamorphic lens, so I can get a professional film look, when I'm filming.

However it is not all bad news as a company called "Dckina" have a "threaded case" for a whole array of nice lenses.
I think it is the same case "Camkix" uses and I think Camkix has just added their logo on the case (see Ebay for the Camkix case with lenses bundle). the camkix bundle is less than £20
The basic Dckina case has a 13.2 mm thread and has loads of lenses to choose from and buy.
Then you can get a step up lense ring adapter to 37 mm which will accept real camera lenses.
Dckina do a case for the S8 but unfortunately, not a S9 case (or I would have mentioned it to Tom yesterday)

Dckina isn't the easiest website to navigate , which is why I added all the relevant links.

Now here are some universal mobile phone camera lens frames for both @St. Tom & @Slater and the they really are beasts!
They are by a company called "Beastgrip" and they are next level frames and lenses for mobile phones.
You both should really check this company out, if you want to up your camera game on your smart phones.
Beastgrip main shop with the frames up front on the page - https://beastgrip.com/collections/shop-now

I love that people are using phones for photography with stunning results.
These days it is more like you are buying a camera which just happens to be a phone and a million other useful devices once you have loaded the relevant app!
I'll be sure to come by and check your grow @ slater and come look a you pics!
Have a great day chaps, I won't be around much as I have work to get on with but I will pop in from time to time to see what's crackin!

I have what looks to be the same usb microscope which cam with a stand. Because it is so close up with it high magnification, the focal length is really short, meaning although you get insane magnification, there will alway be a fair proportion of the part of the bud you are photographing out of focus.

Still that is no really a problem if you want some nice Trichomes looking all sparkly. I guess the trick is to crop the part of the picture you like to show off the bit you like. Shaky hand when it comes to macro is a pain, the same happens with a telephoto lens, so mounts and tripods are a must to get the perfect shot.

It is great we are getting some interest between us in getting better shots of our girls and I hope we can help each other to achieve awesome photos in the future!

The stand that come with it was crap I bought this one for about 20 quid keeps it very stable I'm going to try get the most out of my s9 plus and watch some tutorials on utube also thanks for all the links it must of took you a while to find them im very grateful

Happy Saturday everyone

I have a similar background with film format including large format in college. I now have a Nikon D5600 and it is a whole new world. I love the A priority and finally getting a grip on it but that is just one of so many possibilities with the digital camera. I really feel a little helpless when a photo opportunity pops up and I need different setting and I cannot find them in time. It may take me years to become proficient with this camera and by then who knows what the state of the art will be?
