New Grower Round Two - Continuing The Journey

As she gets older and needs larger, more frequent amounts of water, it'll be interesting to see if your spikes start releasing too much in regards to nutes. She looks great right now! How many do you have going total?
:pass:

I've grown with nothing more than a bag of fresh, organic soil. Depending on the strain, many will complete just fine. BUT, the Jobes spikes are not as cost effective as a box of dry, organic nutrients like GrowMore, Jobes, or doctor Earth. Indoors, 1, four pound box would last you more than a year easily! Hell, my first box lasted a year even using some in my greenhouse! with shipping a 4 pound box sell for around $15.00. Or find a bag of Jobes Organic Tomato and Vegetable
( they don't have a Canna mix.......lol ). I figure it works out to less than 2 cents a plant! Better to save the spikes for giving a little boost in flower. You can even make your own "spikes". Use a few pieces of 1/2" pipe or tubing 3-4. space them evenly in an empty pot. fill the pot with soil, then fill the tubes with nutrients. In fact, only fill the tubes 1/2 full then finish filling with soil or wormcastings.

Still, its an interesting grow! I love experimentation!

so far it's working like a charm. i'll have to get some photos up this evening, but she's 38 days in and she's starting to get some frost going on. im on track for 1.5-2 oz dry at this rate. it may not be as big as some of the big name growers, but i sure am happy with it for having such a simple nute/fert schedule

The spikes are organic, not very likely to burn or over feed. I've added a 1/2 cup of dry nutes to a 2 gallon pot with no ill effects! Would depend on the blend of course, something with a lot of guano or blood meal might be too hot, but the way those spikes work, it would be very hard to over do it

GJ, this is gonna produce a lot of fine sugar trim ... do u have plans for the trim ?
thank you, im probably going to make some edibles with the trim as it will be easiest for me to do, maybe some rosin, but mostly just make some edibles.

I have 2 plants, one toof decay, and one grape crinkle that's a week old. I have a total of 10 jobe's spikes in the promix. i did 4 then 2 weeks in 2 more then another 2 2 more then about 2-3 weeks in an additional 2 spikes. was super easy to do. just push them in and go.
Thanks for the positive response! I've had more responses today than i get some days when i post more often :P

agreed, it is cheaper with a 4 lb bag, which i now have. but this was my first try at it, and for no mixing needed its a great start and great way to get a nice plant growing. im very happy with the experimentation and results. for me cost is a factor, but so is ease. with the extreme pain im in, its easy to just water and stick a few spikes in rather than mix up some things. next time im going to try to make my own spikes using the jobes all purpose 4-4-4 4lb bag I have.
@pop22, you always have great advice which can help a large number of growers, hopefully these spikes help make people excited to grow on an easy scale that they can get the nutes right at a local home depot or lowes, or even amazon without feeling like you're being watched. if you get some tomato seeds with it, it looks like nothing more than you growing some veggies :)
I think over the next year as i get some more time (the grape crinkle will be my last for a few months), i will try to find the perfect cannamix using jobes mixes. My thought as been the all purpose (mostly) mixed with some veggie and some tomato and worm casting/soil as an admix like mephisto has.

I love the spikes! I'd bet i can reuse the soil by just recharging it with some bat guano and worm castings and maybe a small bit of free flow fert.
Always good experimentation and it is fun to experiment. I'll get this down to a science soon enough!

Your on the right track! Yes I agree with you on showing as many viable ways to grow as possible!

I replied to your pm, but to state some of it here. this is a great way for newbies to get their feet wet without a lot of physical hassle. plus it can be done for a few hundred bucks max. tent approx $80-$100, seeds $50-$100 (for enough to last a while), pots $30, spikes $12 or less, light $80, fans $30, odor removal (the most expensive part) $100. So all said and done about $500 for everything, and within 2 runs if you get a zip per plant and do 2-3 plants, you've made your investment back based on costs of medical cannabis in mmj states.

Here's some more pictures that should show how frosty this will be.
