DAY 1

alive.jpg

Yesterday morning I noticed the seedling trying to break through the soil. When I got home from work:
So day 1 is June 14. I flipped on the veg switch and set the lights at just over 3 feet. First time using these lights for seedlings so we'll see how it likes it. I got the medium ready; layer of growstones in the bottom of the pot, and mixed up about 10% growstones with 90% promix. I meant to charge the soil and get it all warmed up but I messed up adding my nutes and ph down. Not a big deal though, the seedling should be able to stay in the dome(top off) for about a week. I will probably get the soil charged on Friday.

Anyway, this morning I noticed the shell was still stuck so I careful removed it. Supposed to be a pretty humid day today so I decided to turn the exhaust fan on as low as it will go. I've also changed the lighting schedule I used in winter to try to keep my temps down.

I'm really liking this humidity dome, I literally filled the reservoir with about an inch of water and left it. The coir pellet stayed perfectly humid, very impressed.

Hope you're all doing well! :pass:
Cheers

That Young Frankenstein got me! [emoji23]

Ya! Have some fun with it!

A lot of people top at the third node and have great results. I remove the first set of branches when they first start showing themselves along with that first single leaf and top at the fourth leaving me three main branches. Experiment. It's a part of the learning process.

Be prepared to do some branch bending when they're soft and pliable (low stress training, or LST) to open her up for air and light. Whereas topping is high stress training (HST). You probably already knew that, but someone else reading may not.

There's a great link here on AFN about training:

Best wishes on your grow!

Day 6
Yesterday the taproot broke through the bottom of the coir pellet so it was time to move the seedling to it's final home. The medium was prepared and charged with 420 ppm (I was aiming for 360 but I couldn't change it after 420 first attempt ). I also overfed the seedling a little in the coir pellet but it still seems to be chugging along nicely. I'm still struggling a little with adding nutes; which tools work best, amount of ppms per ml of nutes added, converting from gallons and ml and all that messes me up sometimes too, and things like that, but I'm getting there. I also picked up some R/O water so there's another thing I have to get used to.

Growstones at bottom of medium:

She's looking a little green so the next feed might just be plain R/O water or a really low dose of nute solution depending on how she does in the next few days. Otherwise she looks good and healthy to me. Seeing the way she seems to be praying to lights, and the nice short stem, I'm pretty pleased with the way these blurple are performing so far for seedlings.

That's all for now. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
Cheers
