Pollen Collection And Long Term Storage

When does the mother plant can be pollinated??

as early as you see pistils on the flower.... theeres a sweet spot where theybare all out and still white... thats the best time for the most seeds... before that is less seeds and too late tends not to take... :toke:

Somehow I think there was pictures showing what op was talking about but now it's all gone and the thread is useless this way.

Its not useless. You might have to read the words, though. *gasp!* Males will drop viable pollen on their own when they're ready. Place a piece of white paper below the male to collect fallen pollen. Store it in a cold dark place with a few grains of rice to absorb moisture. You can pollenate female plants a couple days after the first pistils show. That's pretty much what I gained from the thread.

Like some of the others, I collected pollen in wax paper pouches and used flour for a moisture inhibitor. I stored the pouches in an old 35mm tin film canister... these things have pretty decent rubber sealing rings.

They went in the freezer in May 2010 and came out yesterday, so almost 32 months in a frost free freezer. I'm not optimistic, but I figure WTH... nothing to lose in trying. I only did 5 locations on lower branches. We'll see!

K so its an old thread and this question might be answered sommewhere else but I have searched andd can not find it. So on with it.

I have successfully harvest and stored pollen in the past but I never seen the issue I see now. Just as I was getting ready to see pollen start to fall, instead entire pollen sacks are falling off the plant without opening. There has been about a dozen of them fallen so far. The plant looks fine. No signs of distress whatsoever. What in the world could cause this?!?
