what does a religious belief have to do with growing organically at all......apples and oranges man..... I think he was just stating how insignificant we can all feel when presented with the magnitude of the realities of the universe as a whole. Regardless of religious belief.

1/4, 1/3, 1/2 of super soil in pots

Has any one found out how much super soil needs to go in the pot for AF?
I was thinking about putting 1/4 SS and then put FF or ROOTS to top it off.
I'm not sure if this has been gone over or not? I looked but didnt find any thing.
Thanks for any help.

Quality thread here. I need to finish reading another day. X you are the organics man.

I just thought of this, anyone have any experience with silt? Like pond, lake or river silt?
And its FREE.

after reading the above post i thought id have a look as i have a ready supply pond silt my self looks like its not a good idea if you think about it algae an other plants in the pond will use up the available nutrients heres the info i found

Silt from the bottom of ditches, ponds and even streams is perfectly all right to add to garden soil. It is not particularly rich in nutrients and has no special merit so it won't improve the soil much, but there is no need to skip it.

As for using this silt on its own as soil, I think it won't be as good normal soil even if you mix in organic matter.

I don't know if I believe that it doesn't have stuff plants need in it.

The whole sacramento Valley is one giant silt bed, it is the best place in the USA to grow food because of it.

Food Can't grow well without trace nutrients. Salmon from the ocean bring back elements from the ocean that you can not get anywhere else. Fish are harvested, and it used to be, scattered all around the forest making great nutritious soil. The rain comes, and washes all those nutrients down streams and rivers ending up on lakes and valleys.

I just think maybe there is more to this story, don't mean to ruffle feathers.

Peace

I was just reading and everyone seems to say its a good addative Iam just finding hard to believe it has low nutritional value.

Way back when farmers farmed by rivers bc of the silt from floods made very fertile ground.

supersoil question

I made a batch of super soil 2 days ago and put it away to cook. I was curious so I checked.on it today and it appears I already have some type of mold growing on it.
My question is simple. Is this good mold or did I do something dumb like over moisten the soil.

Here is a close-up. I'm hoping this is what I want it to do but I want to make sure.
