Olderfart's Dive Down the Living Soil Rabbit Hole

I will be tagging along I'm doing my 1st grow in store bought sohums live soil also your off to a great start bro
Very glad to see you aboard @St. Tom, I hope my mischief provides a bit of entertainment if nothing else. I am looking forward to seeing how the autopot/DIY KIS soil combination works out. If I can keep them healthy until harvest, I doubt that I will be going back to salt nutes as the primary tool.

Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for the rep, both much appreciated. :thanks: :worship:

Ah the kiddie pool! The more I read on here, the more I see really obvious, easy, and innovative solutions.

Cool project OF. I'll be along with interest.
The large 24x36 multi purpose mixing tubs would probably work great for that as well.

Hey @Suki813, thanks for dropping in and for all the likes. Looks like you started at the beginning. Welcome aboard. :pighug:

Those mixing trays you mention might also do a decent job with one autovalve irrigating a couple of the 30 liter pots like I am using. I considered using the kiddie pool to irrigate all 4 pots in this grow, but I was worried about the amount of water outside the pots, which is why I went with the fitted DIY trays I am using. We shall see whether it works...

Oh I always start from the beginning lol. I actually buy those tubs since they fit perfectly in my rat cages. But I've got a spare at the moment and if I decide to switch to the same sort of grow medium you've got going I'll probably use it for mixing. I've used them for reporting houseplants before and saved myself from extra vacuuming lol.

Rat cages you say. Must be a story there. Snake food? More than one rat cage. Lots of snake food. Lots of snakes. Big snakes. :goodluck:

Started as snake food, then I started breeding for pets lol. Just another one of my autistic rabbit holes. It actually started with houseplants, believe it or not

Now that qualifies as a rabbit hole! Makes most of mine look pretty tame. What species of snakes were you playing with?

Hey Olderfart! I will definitely follow along. I have been thinking about how to do water only with autopots as well so this is cool! Good luck sir! :pass: :baked::cheers:

Ball python!

It went something like, "I should start an aquarium to use to water my houseplants, aquariums seem like a lot of work but ooh look at these bioactive vivariums! Well, I've got a snake in this vivarium but I really hate buying feeders cause the pet shop mass breeds them and they're always so skinny and sickly, I should breed rats!" Its been like 2.5 years since my first litter now and I don't really breed anymore, the snake had a neurological issue that went undetected till it was too late. Just enjoying the last of the pet rats we have left (2ish year lifespan) before we close out that chapter all together.

Sounds like your rat is lucky. :) And good for you for knowing when to move on. I am working on that one. :)
