Lighting Now it's my turn COB DIY

I run my cobs with cheap Angelina reflectors. There is something like an 8% efficiency drop with reflectors alone nevermind glass lenses. Reflectors help pick up stray light while lenses focus it. Most times creating hotter spots and decreasing footprint.

As for price 250 for 4 Cree 3590's is pretty damn good. The heatsinks are the best value though. About 50% cheaper then we would pay here. Driver is priced well and the cobs are great considering all the extras included. I don't think thermal tape? Is needed but paste is or a pad is.

Not sure why I can't remember what version has the built in dimmer. I think it's the A version. I say that's the way to go. Save time money and hassle or wiring one in. Extra wiring isn't always worth the convince.

What's your frame going to be made of? Thanks for the shout and I'll be happy to help anymore if I can bro. Your gonna be one happy person soon enough.

I would copy the exact list just with consideration of the lenses/reflectors. Ideal holder, ideal reflector adapter and Angelina is all you need. Understanding that cobs are extremely intense and seeing bad results myself with lensed cobs I wouldnt use them again on autos. I fried some very pretty girls in 48hours time.

I'll mount it an thin alu frame.

So you suggest the 2 version ?

It depends on your grow space. I think the fancy lenses are just a waste of money. If your in a tent I'd just go with reflectors. There isn't much light loss in tents vs large rooms.

I will also be testing par numbers with different types of optics soon. Doesn't help now but maybe in the future.

Dude where did you get the XXX badge? I only want certain ones and this one looks pretty sweet

Reflector vs. glass lenses vs. none? What's best option, what are + and - of each option?

There is so much conflicting debates on all 3 Konop. I like lenses if there is proper height but also understand there is a efficiency drop. Reflectors in my tests have shown much higher numbers. But have also heard of larger efficiency drops. I think reflectors are good if you have an open space. bare cobs if your in a smaller space with a good sized light
