Hmmm, smokey eggs,... that's a new one on me mate, an interesting taste combo! I'd have to try it to decide it- :chef:  I think the Deviling of the yolks with a spicy twist is a good call!

The veggie garden looks primed and ready,...any chili's yet?

OK, that 8 spike Laelia Santa Barbara Sunset is fully open and in full glory!

Here is a up and coming project before the wet season starts . The big tub will be another fish pond and the smaller one - 600 liter - is for soil , The soil tube has drain holes in the bottom so worms will find there way there . The soil tub will be covered and that way I can make use of the rain . I'll post as I as I go down the path ,

Ive always been fascinated with aquaponics, although Ive never had the opportunity to give it a go. Is that what youre doing with the fish? Or are you landscaping a pond with it (another excellent choice, ponds and pond liners are expensive!)?

@Tom Bombadil The fish pond is for the water it produces , Since I started using fish Pond Water - FPW - I have see a maked increase in the health of my plants , it is also what my soil gets . Best bit they where free . The FPW tank will cost nothing to set up , I can get the fish from local freshwater creeks and lagoons , same as plants . :cooldance:

G'day got a updare on my side product . Fish tank is done , 850 liters of water , I am leaving it for a week to dechlorinate and will stock it with plants I will get from local fresh water lagoons then add the fish which I will also get from the lagoons . I have drilled holes at the 850 liter mark to drain off the excess water in the wet season , The blue basket - [ milk crate ] is where the lillys will go , the white pipe is to put the hose to top up and the hose won't fall out while doing it , I put in a gravity feed water tap , no more sucking on a bit of hose  I have also startedthe soil bin , will be around 500 liter when done . Total cost so far $60 , One of my sons mates came around and asked what I was doing with the soil , so I told him ,
Hecno he said , are you going to sell any -- Hmm that had we thinking , $50 for a 27 liter bag which is a big pots worth , that will scare him off I thought , Bugger me he said I'll take 6 pots worth . :woohoo1:

Now Bloody Tomatos -- What a bummer of a season I am having , all the standard Toms are not liking it at all , To warmat night and hot during the day for them , I recon we have had about 20 days of winter and now it is over . BUT fear not tomato lovers all is not lost . The clone I took off the wifes plant which she had growing for over 2 1/2 years [ Badly , but don't tell her that . I want to live a bit longer  ] I have no idea what type it is - some sort of cherry tomato I think - I have taken clones which I have given to people I know who can grow them , I also will keep seeds . I stopped counting them , but will over 200 fruit

Amazing work @hecno ...I wanna fish tank now..........but I might have to settle for dirty duck water instead..... :pass:

I have the same plastic tanks for my raised beds.......but there are plans afoot to get another and turn half into a duck pond....

If we get flooded again...they should Float......:d5:

Have you grown Avocados...?

@Mossy Duck pond , think of all that lovely duck water you will have to feed the plants and using to build soil :woohoo1: I have not grown Avos , get a big bag for $5.00 here , we have a number of farms that grow them and my native soil at home is no good for growing them . What type of banana is it , I have lady fingers growing in the yard , way better than cavendish .

...coming along nicely mate! Of course this means you have to grow more canna now- :rolleyes2:
This is a good KISS set-up, bet you could sell/set-up these for a proper fee as well... But your soil, I've been barking up that tree for years  ... it's not a bad deal mate, really. Consider the cost of high quality (preferably) canna-specific nutes, the cost of the bloody EC and pH meters to manage the nute solution parameters, the learning curve to use them properly and maintain them.... Then the time and effort to work it all,... Factor in it's practical value for new growers, and how much easier it is to use and maintain this soil and the results, it's suddenly a bargain! Plus it's reusable :greenthumb:
The other side of the coin is how much of your time and effort goes into it!
Even though I'm a hack organic guy, I see zero reasons for me to go back to synthetics after running this KIS stuff, and at a very KISS level: no fancy tea's, side grows of specialty biotics and all that jazz... I'm still tinkering with my MO on all this too, so the dial-in curve is still there... You see where I'm at this year, with the new methods vs. last year, and results are still pending... but the time and PITA factor for the grow/feeding is down hugely-:yay:That was the main mission to begin with!

The clone I took off the wifes plant which she had growing for over 2 1/2 years [ Badly , but don't tell her that . I want to live a bit longer  ]
:crying:... true dat! She knows, after looking at your crop-.. best not rub it in!

:greenthumb::clapper: oh man, that is outstanding Hec', I was looking at it and wondering if it was a species of Hoya-- (looking)--- and it is! That is waaay showier than the usual ones I see around here... There were a few at the old orchid nursery, just the common little white flower types... Not an easy grower outside of their preferred conditions... Is this yours or the wifes? :eyebrows:
.... neat 'shroomies too!

those are looking great Aunty! And they may indeed float ..hopefully that won't be put to the test though!
:nono: duck water.... sounds nasty and full of unwelcome pathogens for you and the dogs,.... plus the damn things just poop the place up horribly! :rolleyes2:
