No pollen yet - howcum?

@RYCBAR @Olderfart
I just harvested a branch a few days ago of Cheese Auto that I pollinated and let it dry.
The reversal was done with STS I thought I would post some pics to show you the success I have been having with STS.
The first shot is with a lighter for Scale.

Next the dark seed and light seeds I pulled out of that.
I will squeeze test the light seeds to see if the shell is hard as probably close to half of these will be viable.

This has the scrap pile in the shot. As you can see there are many green , small or under developed odd shaped seeds that I just throw away.
some of these may be viable but as you can see I can afford to be a little picky.

This is a scale of the scrap pile left over.

Unfortunately I could not upload my video of the seeds falling out of the buds when I rubbed them between my fingers.

So in total
Dark seeds 206
light seed I have to go through and squeeze test 143
Scrap seeds about 50 or 60.
If I get a third of the light seeds I will have about 250 seeds from this run ( I'm sure it will be more)
So in total Good Bad and ugly
basing my scrap seed @ 50 there were about 399 seeds on that branch.
I apply my pollen with a water color brush and take care to get each little hair, it takes a while but the results speak for them selves.

I hope every can have the success I have been having.
As I stated before I switched to STS and will never look back. :jointman:

damnnnnnnnnnnnn. I dusted my little plant 4 or 5 times, so hopefully we have a decent amount.

How long did you let those seeds mature? 4-5 weeks?

What are your thoughts on strain stability of your crosses you have made? Get many funky plants out of a batch of seeds?

I let the seeds mature for about 6 weeks (from last pollen application).
I have picked some calyxes off the plant and found mature seeds after 4 weeks but you can usually see the brown through a split calyx on the plant.
at 6 weeks you can usually expect most seeds to be mature.
This strain is not a cross so I expect all resulting seeds to be like the parent plants (but that would depend on the breeder that sold the seeds)
As for my crosses, I currently have 2. Jack herer auto x Super OG kush auto that I call Super Jack auto and Mango Auto x Super OG kush auto that I call Super Mango auto.
My friends and I have grown out these crosses and all plants are pretty much the same in size.
The super Jacks, I found the terps seemed different from plant to plant.
Some have a strong presence of that Jack Herer Auto smell some not so much.
The 2 failed attempts at making pollen with C/S I talked about earlier were the Super Jack so we could move F2s but no luck there.
I am now in the process of making F2 Super Jacks.
I reversed 1 with STS (the one that is still spitting out pollen) and am now keeping it for S1 seeds.
I had 4 more Super Jacks growing at my buddies house and once they started to flower we took a branch on the healthiest best smelling plant and pollinated it.
The seeds will be ready on February 9th these will officially be our first F2s, then we start the process all over again to move on to F3s and so on.
I can't really say much about Strain stability of the crosses at this point.
As for what my friends and I have grown of my crosses, size seem to be roughly the same the smell differs (but I have noticed this from store bought breeder seeds) and all had a potent effect when smoked or made into edibles.
I recently obtained some Cinderella Jack auto by Dutch Passion, They say they top out at 26% thc.
My goal now is to reach F5 with the Super Jacks auto then cross with Cinderella Jack auto.

@Olderfart
Sorry we got a little off track.
how are you making out with your plant?

The stud was chopped today, the apparently opening flowers collected and spread on a plate for drying. Once dry, I will grind and sift them. I think I will have enough pollen, but it remains to be seen whether it is viable.

The mother plant is doing well so far, now getting seriously into flowering. I expect to apply pollen in a week or two.

Thanks for checking in @ob1. :pighug:

Great to hear!
Keep us in the loop on how things go for you.

It should be viable. Pretty rare that it doesnt make usable pollen, from what it sounds like. Woot! Glad to hear that.

Dusted today, will check tomorrow.

Likely in two days, you will see just the tips start to die off. Assuming the mother is young and the pistols are fresh.

These are about 2-3 days old from being pollinated.
