No pollen yet - howcum?

These are about 2-3 days old from being pollinated.
I was just about to reply that it looks like the pollination took the I realized that this is not @Olderfart picture lol
@RYCBAR I guess you already know the hairs are turning brown on the ends lol!

I will likely do some pics at ~48 hours showing pollenated vs. not. That would be tomorrow sometime.

Not a lot of change in the buds, so no pics today. I applied pollen again today, and will call it done at that.

Some of the pistils on the topmost buds have coloured tips, so I may have managed to spread some pollen around in spite of my best efforts to avoid that. OTOH, perhaps it is just buds maturing - unlike the deliberately dusted buds, they are not wilted. OTOH again, perhaps the "wilting" was a result of the Q Tip rumaging. Time will tell, maybe.

Sadly, if the top buds were pollenated, I will not get mature seeds from them because those branches will be harvested too early for seeds. I plan to use most of the cbd buds for extract, so if there are some seeds in there, I will not be too fussed.

Sounds like the pollen I got. Had to dust it 5 times to get full coverage.

You apparently can pollinate the lower half of the plant if you dont lollipop. After you harvest the top half of the plant. Allowing you to smoke/test the plants. Decide what ones you like and keep them. Will get 4-5 more weeks out of the plant, just enough to get seeds. Incase you get more pollen.

Also maybe try a paint brush next time. You can tap the brush over the plant and pollen goes everywhere. Way easier on the pistols. pollen might be getting stuck to the q tip. Not all but some of it.

I had a look at earlier photos, and the darkening tips on non-dusted pistils started earlier, so not pollenated maybe.

As to the dusted ones, they are wilting more, so we shall see. I am only pollenating two lowest branches, so I don't want to use a brush to spread it around. The q tips were seriously loaded, so if the pollen is good, I'll get seeds from most pistils. If it isn't, it isn't. I am not going to fuss with it any further. Mom is now back in the 2x4 with the other two plants, and that is where she is going to stay.

You idea of dusting after testing is a good one if one was involved in a breeding project. I am just making seeds, not doing a cross, so no testing of buds before decisions is needed. I will either get some seeds or not, and if I do, they should be stable examples of the same exact strain. Or so goes the theory, and we know how theories sometimes work out.

Thanks for chiming in, I will keep this thread posted on results. :pighug:

Has anyone asked you what you used for CS? Homemade?

A Stronger solution might be helpful, but maybe you are ready for STS.

I documented my cs mischief in my blog on my current grow. It is homemade, and it certainly generated balls. I soaked the entire stud plant with it. Went through over a liter and a half of fresh CS solution by the time I stopped.

Hmmm.. I only used 1/2 oz for my little guy - and that 28ish days.
Might be why the plant refused to make pollen.
I know spraying it too much can cause viability issues.

How many times a day did you spray?

I found with C/S some plants were Just a little harder to reverse it could have been the strain you were crossing.
I used to spray morning and night, 12 hours apart for 25 days.
Some worked some didn't.
I don't miss the process, STS seems to give me a bit more life outside of making seeds lol.
Spray once, see you in 5 days and repeat!:yay:
And still at 100% success.
