No pollen yet - howcum?

Well peeps, another cola and a half has been trimmed and all balls showing signs of opening put in the drying jar. The really good news is that at least some of the balls were shedding pollen on their way into the jar.

Niceeeeee. Yah its crazy what little pollen it takes, but boy do you gotta work for it with some plants and CS.

He was right. ^^ I think it really does just come down to genetics.

My last CS reversal had no visible pollen. I harvested sacs every day after they just opened or were about to open, let them dry out for a few days then rubbed them on a grinder screen on top of baking paper. This is about a week's worth, reversed plant was only around 6 inches tall.

yah pollen grains are .0007" big, hard to see them. Nice work though.

Nice Pics looks like you got enough for a few thousand seeds.
It only takes 1 of those .0007" pollen grains and 1 female hair to make a seed.
I just pulled over 300 AK-47 auto seeds from a plant about 1 foot tall and not very bushy.
good luck!

Thanks for checking in. I re-ground and sifted the first batch of cola parts today and I think I am going to be good for pollen. And I haven't touched the second batch of balls I have drying, and I still have half the plant trucking along happily maturing more of them.

There will be seeds, although I am not going to dedicate the whole mother plant, just a couple lower branches. I have in mind some CBD/THC salve for my dearest, so there will be some cbd bud as well. All assuming that I can keep the CBD mom happier than my two oldest plants which now, to be kind, do not look pretty.

@Olderfart
RYCBAR is absolutely right! I have had 2 reversals that gave off pollen and I never got 1 seed out of the receiving plants.
my friend and I spent last winter reversing a plant each so we could make two types of seeds.
Our plan was to have the seeds for spring we both got pollen but we never got seeds.
You never really know until you see seeds on your plant if the pollen was viable.
this is also another + for STS so far I have gotten pollen from everything I have reversed and all have given me seeds.
C/S not so lucky.
But never get discouraged it's part on the game and it makes it better than Christmas morning when you discover that first swollen calyx on your plant with a little split showing that seed beneath!
My first experience with C/S was a good one I hope yours is to.

Yah that appears to be alot of peoples experiences. CS generally will work, and get you some pollen.
STS works most of the time and you get way more pollen, when you find the right plant.

CS is great for people just getting into it, let them warm up to the idea of sts imo.

I just harvested a branch a few days ago of Cheese Auto that I pollinated and let it dry.
The reversal was done with STS I thought I would post some pics to show you the success I have been having with STS.
The first shot is with a lighter for Scale.

Next the dark seed and light seeds I pulled out of that.
I will squeeze test the light seeds to see if the shell is hard as probably close to half of these will be viable.

This has the scrap pile in the shot. As you can see there are many green , small or under developed odd shaped seeds that I just throw away.
some of these may be viable but as you can see I can afford to be a little picky.

This is a scale of the scrap pile left over.

Unfortunately I could not upload my video of the seeds falling out of the buds when I rubbed them between my fingers.

So in total
Dark seeds 206
light seed I have to go through and squeeze test 143
Scrap seeds about 50 or 60.
If I get a third of the light seeds I will have about 250 seeds from this run ( I'm sure it will be more)
So in total Good Bad and ugly
basing my scrap seed @ 50 there were about 399 seeds on that branch.
I apply my pollen with a water color brush and take care to get each little hair, it takes a while but the results speak for them selves.

I hope every can have the success I have been having.
As I stated before I switched to STS and will never look back. :jointman:
