No pollen yet - howcum?

Thanks for the great read, I’m looking forward to reading up on CS STS.

Hmmm.. I only used 1/2 oz for my little guy - and that 28ish days.
Might be why the plant refused to make pollen.
I know spraying it too much can cause viability issues.

How many times a day did you spray?
Once just before lights out. I made sure that leaves were dry before the lights came back on. When I sprayed, I soaked the whole plant. I kept it small in a small container and topped it as well to control size - it was for pollen only.

I saw no sign of negative response to the CS solution. I suspect that toxic results may be from poorly made CS with too high a concentration of larger silver particles, but that is just a suspicion. The generator setup I used allowed me to keep amperage down around one miliamp throughout the generation. At this amperage mostly nano particles are produced. Higher amps makes larger particles which do not do what we want to the plant. Keeping amperage constant requires significant adjustment during generation because the increasing silver concentration increases conductivity and consequent amperage unless you adjust as needed. I stopped generating when amber color started to show up. It is my understanding that, if you keep the amperage down, the amber indicates that the nano particles are starting to stick together into larger particles because saturation of nanoparticles has been reached, and the CS solution is as good as it is going to get. The last pollen harvest I did when I chopped the plant certainly seemed to contain significant amounts of pollen, not like a natural male plant, but definitely enough to notice easily, so I expect to see some seeds. Given the two thorough applications of pollen that I did, I can't imagine that many pistils escaped. If the pollen is good, I should have dozens of seeds. My fingers are crossed.

For sure. Just trying to dig into it a bit incase others have the same issue. ty for sharing.
I believe alot of people who run homemade CS spray 2-3 times per day. Just spraying the bud sites, not the leaves.
If you didnt see the leaves twist up at all, then yah. Might have been too large or too low of ppm/not sprayed enough.

You can always test you solution with a laser to check.

If you do end up trying STS, please write up a thread on it. Would love to see how that goes.

Unless a person uses a constant current setup of some sort, I think homemade CS is often far too heavy with larger silver particles. My first attempt without constant current chewed the heck out of my silver wire, left black deposits under one of the wires, and resulted in liquid the color of strong tea. After a bit more homework, I chucked it and started over with a constant current setup. Pure CS solution with nothing but nanoparticles in it is pretty much perfectly clear, not dark amber. As I understand it, only the nanoparticles get right into the plant tissues and do the hormonal mischief that does the reversal. OTOH, I am not an expert, I just gathered information from digging around on the internet, mostly in the huge thread here on the topic. There is good information there, but boy that thread takes time to dig through.

I checked with a laser, and interestingly enough, particles are visible within a remarkably short time even at only one miliamp. As I recall, in less than an hour. But I left it generating until the amber just started, while keeping it at ~1 miliamp.

We shall see whether seeds result... If they don't, I will conclude that I did not run the generator long enough, or the strain is difficult.

As to my sharing, I am just trying to pass on the generous and patient help I have received here. This is a great place to learn, and to help others when possible.

Happy growing @RYCBAR. :pighug:

:/ My pollen wasn't viable. All were tiny seeds that never grew. I guess that is kind of expected with a reg seed and a plant thats never been reversed. I will try one more time with the NL X Skunk.

I can't recall are you using C/S or STS

Homemade CS. Details on prep in my grow blog.
I have had more bad than good with C/S, it does work but I had so many misses with it that I finally gave in to try the STS.
I know it cost a few dollars but so do seeds.
If you have any friends that grow you might want to see if they would split on it with you it would be well worth it.
the smallest amount that I found was 25g of silver nitrate and 500g of sodium thiosulfate.
I make 100ml batches and there is enough there to make hundreds of gallons
I'll never need to buy more it cost me about 70 CAD for the 2 chemicals and about 70 CAD to ship.
If I lived in Toronto I could have went in to the store and saved on shipping. I would imagine most big cities would have a chemical supply store if you live close to one.
I'm still at 100% making seeds with STS.
My last plant gave me nearly 300 seeds. At about 10 dollars a seed, buying 15 seeds would pay for the chemicals.
The cost is what held me back for years but now that I switched I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner I would have saved a lot of time and money.
I'm not trying to force you but I am telling you you will not be sorry.
Best of luck in you future seed endeavors my friend!
