New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

i dont think its quite ready for a full pot soaking just yet.unless the pot would dry out again within 3 days ? how big is the pot ? is the pot light ? if so it could do with a drink, but again ai wouldnt give it much more than 500ml at this stage.but as im an eejit i could be completely wrong.
watering can be mostly a feel thing, and only you can feel it.sorry to be vague about it.
and sorry for answering your questions with more questions of my own.
good luck.
:pass:
Im growing in a 3 gallon fabric pot. its getting pretty light i can stick my finger down into soil and still feel some cool moisture but nothing is "wet". ill probably need to give it some water by tomorrow. i dont have a problem just giving it just small waterings heck i gave it over a litre a few days ago or so. only thinkg im thinking is that no watyering ive done has ever had any runoff. and dont know how far that water is actually soaking into pot. so if soil towards bottom is bone dry, any roots that were to try and grow further down would stall out in the dry stuff. i dont know how fast these plants develop roots compared to plant size.

well time for the day 15 update, as usual ill attach a couple pics. I noticed some slight colour fading and faint yellowing in the original first set of leaves on the plant. i was instructed to give it a feeding of 1/4 strength nutrients, which i did yesterday when i watered plant. I also kind of went against the norm of advice on here and gave my pot a full watering with some runoff (first time since before planting seed) something in my gut was just telling me to give the soil a good full soaking, It took about 3 litres (give or take) until some water started dripping off bottom of pot. Guess ill find out if i was right or wrong in a couple days, lol. i havent really noticed any change in the plant since the nute feeding, though its only been a day. how long does it takes nutes to start to kick in and show effects in a plant?
the good news is that the full pot watering kicked my rh in tent up from 35% to 43% so thats a nice thing. Im just hoping that whatever was causing the slight yellowing is infact just a matter of plant needing some nutes and hopefully i havent stunted it to bad.
but ill let anyone chime in on the matter, as is the norm feel free to let me know how you all think the plant is doing!
Its a little unnerving to see other peoples pics with larger looking very dark green plants at the same day as mine is on. But perhaps its strain related or whatever i dont know, :)

@jeffsos3000 Good afternoon don't worry about comparing your plants to other peoples at same day of growth. every grows different mediums, nutes, methods etc. Your plants look fine. Genetics and environment are so different for so many growers. Whats important is to ask questions, try new things and learn from trial and error. I have grown photos for 10 years and its my first auto grow also I'm having a blast trying different ppms temps ph etc. Just have fun. Trust me man if you follow basic guidelines on this site you will have a successful harvest. Cheers Chef

well the good news is i just picked up a ph test kit and some ph up and ph down, my straight nuted tap water was coming in around 7ph. i Just tested some of my runoff water that was in the pan from yesterday and it was testing at 6.5, im guessing this is good right?? what is the actual ph range that cannabis likes, im guessing there must be an actual range you want to be in? or do you need to be 6.5 constant?
im guessing that if i was running half strength nutes instead of quarter strength the ph might fall better in 6.5 range, at least i would think becasue my sensi grow nutes have some ph perfect technology (so it claims).

everything I've read (take it as it is, I've just now got some beans in pots waiting on germ for my first ever grow) says between 6 and 7 with some pushing that lower to 5.6ish

Ahhhhh okay so I'm within range then. I had read similar as well, but wasn't sure if it was the same for autos vs photo period.

Here's a chart for PH/nutrient uptake I've seen posted around the forums...

well it would appear that i am definitly in a great ph range then, lucky me!. and im very excited. in about 24 hours or less from when i gave my plant its first light shot of nutes and full pot watering with runoff it would appear that it kind of exploded a little in growth, not inches or anything ha ha, but my 4th node leaves really grew up from the top and i now have little growth shooting out from all my node gaps! cant believe how quickly that happened, perhaps this is the start of its vigorous growth phase. looking forward to topping it. just gotta wait for those 4th node leaves to grow bigger then once 5th set starts to grow i can snip it and then start some light lst. im going to monitor it over the next couple days for any signs of overwatering from the full soaking i gave it. but if anything it currently looks even more lively then it did before. the original set of single leaves havent greened up at all as of yet. but the new growth is looking vibtrant and strong. think i will continue with the full waterings and 1/4 strength nutes for the time being. i know i just posted pics yesterday, but since im just so damned excited ill post a few pics from today. I wonder if this is what it feels like watching a child grow up ha ha :p. this is now day 16 since sprout.

Hey bro, you want to start off with your soil at a pH of 6.5, when your inputs fall too far below or too far above 6.5 you can run into problems sometimes, not as much if you're organic.

So with a pH of 7.0 on your input water, in time you may find your soil will get a little bit high in pH. One way you might get around this would be to water every once in awhile with a lower pH water. Or possibly a gentle flush once in awhile with distilled or reverse osmosis water or something similar. You may not have any problems at all it will likely depend upon how many minerals are present in your water. If the pH is at 7 because you have a lot of minerals then eventually you're going to get salt buildup in the soil and you will experience a lockout.

The best way to know for sure, is to get yourself an EC pen or total dissolved solids pen. Always more money [emoji853]
