New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

yeah i think i might have to look at doing something, i cant really afford to buy a whole new grow tent. i tend to be oe of those people that really starts to over think things instead of just going with the flow,lol. at forst i thought 4 foot height would be plenty fora small auto. but i forgot to factor in that i lost about a foot of space just for the pot. so far the plant is looking nice and squat its starting to grow its 3rd set of leaves and the node spacing is super tight right now. i was thinking that i could top it which i was always planning to do just for fun (im not overly concerned with maximum yields since im a very light smoker, an ounce would last me a few months probably). So if i was to top it at 4th node then build a scrog screen and place it one foot above plant do you think that would work? im not sure how tall the budding colas would stretch above the net? im probably looking at about a 1.5 feet of maximum growth height available to me.

OKay i just ran down and took some measurments, so the absolute highest i can hang my light is 6 inches from tent ceiling, my 3 gallon pot actually has a soil height of 6 inches so probably only actually around 2.5 gallons of pot space filled after soil settled. so if duting flower my light needs to be 18 inches from canopy that allows me a total maximum growing height of about 16inches.

will that be a managable height to keep if i top my plant and run a scrog screen at 12 inches above pot? that would allow for about 4 inches of growth above the screen.

I would prefer to just lst rather then use a scrog sice it will be easier for me to maneuver plant around if needed and make watering easier since i can lst to the pot.

Scrog sounds good, probably could put the screen closer to the plant than 12" if needed. Then again, if you have a bit of a lazy streak like me, you might just flip your tent up on its side seeing as how you only have one plant.

depends on make model of led,and im sure theres a bit of strain variation aswell,with my set up in flower i can have my plants 6" away with no il effects.

sorry, im a little confused. what do you mean by flip my tent on its side? if i flipped my tent i would only have 2 feet of height. my tent is 2'x2'x4'tall

Oh wow that much yield for me wold last me a long long time. now im really starting to think i should have just used 1 gallon pot well i have more seeds sp next grow ill downsize to smaller pots and maybe run 2 plants instead of one. im using a viparspectra reflector series 300watt (136 actual watts) if your plants are reaching within 6 inches of the light and not suffering then maybe ill be okay and gain extra grow height. does this so called bleaching that can happen destroy the buds or is it more just an asthetic looks thing?

okay okay so heres what i decided im going to do. im going to go to canadian tire on my days off and pick up some pvs pipe and fittings and im going to build a scrog screen 1.5'x1.5' that will allow it to fit in my tent with room to spare as well as be the optimal width screen to match my flowering light coverage. i will place this net 6 to 8 inches above my plant and as plant grows ill keep everything tucked under the net. im not sure how watering will work since i wont be able to get at the pot. but i suppose i could just water through top of canopy or use some kind of syphon pump and hose.

does that height placment for scrog net seem alright?

how tall does an auto indica strain usually stretch once budding starts. is it the standard rule of plant height doubling?

6-8" sounds about right, sorry about the tent thing I thought it was longer than it was tall.

well its update time again! feel free as usual to chime in with how you think the health of my plant is. ive noticed that some of the little pointed edges on the leaves are kind of curled a little upwards, i dont know if that means anything or not. when do you think i can give it a proper full soaking watering with runoff? ive just been watering a little here and there when soil is light and dry. theres currently still a little cool moisture in the mix but i have yet to water the pot fully.
ive also noticed the first original cotyledons or however you spell it, are starting to yellow off, im assuming this is normal?

i dont think its quite ready for a full pot soaking just yet.unless the pot would dry out again within 3 days ? how big is the pot ? is the pot light ? if so it could do with a drink,but again ai wouldnt give it much more than 500ml at this stage.but as im an eejit i could be completely wrong.
watering can be mostly a feel thing,and only you can feel it.sorry to be vague about it.
and sorry for answering your questions with more questions of my own.
