New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

You may still be surprised by this plant. There is actually still some time for a stretch and she can put on some size still.
well its looking better today, those lower branches are already starting to grow out and bush up a little. and i noticed that my plant has gotten roughly and inch and a half to two inches taller to the top of the largest fan leaves at top of plant. might have been a bit taller if the top hadnt of broken. so perhaps maybe its going to start growing more. im guessing itll grow out two new stems from the top. Hoping the lower ones continue to grow up as well. but its definitly looking more happy then it was the other day ,:). Itll be getting another watering either tonight or tomorrow. it would appear defoilating those larger fan leaves is helping. i think i might look at continuing to defol larger leaves as needed to keep better light to plant as a whole.

well its update time yet again, plant is now 5 weeks 2 days old. and i regret to say it still hasnt really grown any in height much since last update. it has however really grown out more and bushed up.the lower stems have been growing more and its developing the squat domed cnaopy. from what i can tell i have a potential 10 budsites on it currently since theres 10 branches. definitly not holding out much hope for much yield. but will see what happens. i had noticed a few lwaves with some slight burn to the tips, i dont know if it was from stress or what not and was only literally 3 leaves, so my last watering was just with straight water and no nutrients just to be safe. but as usual plant still appears to be quite healthy. my guess is that its putting its energy into the lower branch growth instead of height since it got topped by accident. though where it was topped is growing, just growing slow. but all in all still quite a difference since last post.

You rplant is looking real good j! She does have time to stretch. She is a healthy gal for sure!
yeah, i just find it kind of funny becasue wheres this explosive pre flowergrowth i always hear about, lol. it ending up topped at the 4 week mark probably didnt help the height, but i feel it definitly helped the lower branch growth. also did a little defol on it to get more lght into lower stuff, all seeems to have worked and its definitly healthy. it just never was one for height. it has always been very squat. will have to wait and see what continues to happen. because at this rate and it being so short i cant see there being much room for buds to grow since even the branches are short, lol. but as far as overall health for a first time grow i think i have that part nailed. i have had really zero issues since seed with any problems (aside the height thing). so happy about that. its still alive and well so ill let it do whatever its going to do and see it thorugh to the end. It deserves that much regardless of outcome. if anything its a great test/ experiement plant. even plucked one nice fan leaf and have it pressed in the pages as a book as a "my first plant" reminder, lol. maybe ill throw it into a dollar store frame later ha ha. how long is the stretch period on a autoflower usually. going by the sticky on here "life of an autoflower" it sounds like i only have about one more week or so. unless for some reason this plant is just falling way behind schedule. but i have noticed a few fuzzy white short hairs formin on the main stem at a couple spots. so im assuming thats a preflower thing? ive only seen a few of these so far.

just re-read the sticky i guess technically i have another 2 weeks before pre flower growth is supposed to slow and stop, im into week 5 and i guess its supposed to go until around week 7.

should i continue to defol leaves? and would it be wise to remove any new little stem growth from the nodes of all my main stems? my thinking is that doing this would put more energy into the growth =of all the major stems instead of energy going into putting out new stems from those stems, if that makes any sense. i have noticed all my lower stems are now trying to put out new stems from the nodes, but that will be pretty futile in my eye, especially since they wont get much light.

I wouldn't be defoliate now It will slow a plant down and I like to do it on real actively growing plants.

I'm trying to remember what height you have your lights at? You may be experiencing some photo inhibition, I can't really remember if I discussed that in your thread or not. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to raise your lights up a bit and see if that doesn't help your plant grow upwards some more.

Now that I think of it, if you have the room raise your lights up 6 in. The only reason we keep them low during veg is to keep the node spacing tight. Obviously we don't care about that right now with your plant.

hey jingo i was hoping you would chime in! and yeah i was wondering about the defol stunging the plant so ill just let it be. and yes you had advised me to raise my light up. its at its max height. my tent is only 4 feet all right now my light is about 6 inches from ceiling of tent, its currently as high as it can go. if i removed my rope ratchets i cold get about 3 more inches or so of height. but since raising it up 8 inches last time it doesnt seem to be making much of a difference. i would really suprised if it was an issue with too much light since its only a chinese 300 watt lamp. viparspectra 300 to be exact. though its only drawing 136 watts from the wall according to specs. but yeah as it stands now i cant really get the light any higher. right now its actually higher then the specs says it should be for veg. only way i could get it higher would be to literally remove my plant and light from the tent. which would cause problems during flowering with smell ha ha.

Well I'm a medical user and I'm Stoned 24/7 so I guess I couldn't remember what we talked about in this thread. I was in a local dispensary picking up some sugar wax the other day when I came across this rock.
