New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

Well I'm a medical user and I'm Stoned 24/7 so I guess I couldn't remember what we talked about in this thread. I was in a local dispensary picking up some sugar wax the other day when I came across this rock.

ah ha ha that is hilarous! oh and fyi i just measured my light height, its 22 inches above canopy

okay so im noticing my plant starting to grow more and more of these short little white hairs on various branches. im guessing this is officially the pre-flower stage? how does one tell difference between pre-flower and actualy flowering stage. plant is still staying about same size, lol. i can post some pics if anyone thinks there needed.

I always wait until I have little buds the size of buttons forming before I call myself in full flower.

BUMP... I was looking at growing forums yesterday and landed on here.

Your ladies looks amazing, I sat on the edge of my seat reading every post and replies.

Ill be keeping an eye on updates!!!

well its officially week 6 today, so time for the quick weekly update, plant definitly appears to be into pre flower stage, lots of little white hairs showing up. plant has become very bushy, still very short but ive counted a total of 10 budding sites. ive been debating weather to do some defol on it to help with light penetration, but it appears to me that the bud sites can all get light, at least on top. being so squat a plant im thinking there might be enough light penetration anyway, but feel free to chim in with any advice on this. some of the leaves were looking a little bland and yellowish so i gave it a heavier half dose of nutes when watering today. i had been sticking to quarter strength but figired id up and and see how things go. as usual ive attached a few pictures.
can anyone give me any advice as to when i should make the switch from veg nutes to bloom nutes?
Oh and also, i had raised my leight to max height in tent to try and achieve some plant stretch which never seemed to happen, lol. but im curious as to when i could look at lowering my light back down to around the 12 inch mark or so? im figuring it should probably be lowered now that its starting to flower??

hey! welcome to my grow journal, feel free to tag along! its just one plant and first attempt at growing, its a whopping 6 inches tall ah ha. but keeping it as healthy as possible thanks to all the great tips and advice from the awesome people on here! it sure is a dense plant though.

Looking good, it sure is a pain when you get a plant that doesn't want to stretch. You could start transitioning over to your bloom schedule right now if you have a transition period. I do with General Hydroponics, some two-part nutrient companies don't really have a transition.

You don't really need your light lower for probably a couple weeks. I don't think it's really going to matter much at this point.

In another week or 10 days if you haven't seen a stretch you're going to have to thin that Critter out. Might need to call in a few guys for different ideas on how to do that.

ah okay yeah my sensi a&b doesnt mention anything about a transition peroid so im guessing next watering i can just swutch straight to the bloom version of their nutrients. and ha ha yeah i was thinking light height wouldnt really matter much either, seems to be having no problems getting enough light. it is kind of a pain that i never got any stretch out of this plant, but ill take it for what it is and see what it yields in the end, can always grow another one after this one, with the stuff ive lerned a second grow should potentially go even better.
and ill see hows it looking at week 7, if need be ill defol it pretty heavy to get as much light to bud stems as possible. i doubt anything i do at this point can really cause any problems, lol. i ight end up lolipoping all the stems pretty good to really open her up for budding. at this point even if i only got a couple grams off it id still be happy. its the learning and the experience that was most important this grow anyway. future grows i can focus more on yields.
but yeah ill so ill switch to bloom nutes in a few days and at 7 weeks ill do some heavy defol on all stems and see what happens. ill priobably seriously defol it since it needs as much light to buds as it can get. out of curiosity just how many leaves does the plant need to maintain for photosynthesis, could i like lets say remo ve 50 percent of the foliage ?

If you reach the point where you're certain there's not going to be any stretch, then yeah 50% removal of vegetation is fine. The big thing I worry about is if you get a late stretch and start heavy defoliation then you just kind of keep it short anyway.

yeah i defenitly understand your concerns about late stretch. ill see if heres any height changes over the next week. if not then i figure, screw it ill just defol as planned and what happens happens. ill let it finish through to harvest, get what i get off it, and start planning second grow. i did notice that my pot is definitly full of a good root structure went to dig down a little into soil to test moisture level and was catching roots with my finger,. but yeah at this point i figure ill just do what i gotta do and get it finished up. and hopefully next grow will be better, ther will probably be some slgiht changes ill make with next grow, starting at sprout stage, ill try to get seedling to stretch more, perhaps cover up half my lamp to reduce light intensity and run half strength nutes from the get go instead of quarter strength little things like that. i think most importantly is to reduce the light a little in earlier stage so the young plant can stretch. my seedling never did stretch right from when it popped it only stretched about a half inch from soil before throwing out leaves. i might even sprout it just in a sunny window for the forst little while and get that seedling reaching a bit taller. i figure a nice stretch at the seedling stage will make a big difference. there should be any problem with covering up half my lamp or something would there, im thinking just maybe a piece of cardboard tapped over half of it so its only running half strength or so?
