New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

no worries! nothing wrong with trying to get a little info. wish my plant looked like yours ha ha, im learning new things daily on my first grow. as long as it survives to harvest ill be happy even if i dont get much yield. its a good learning experience, and every new grow there are things ill learn from previous one to carry forward. i have a habit of going with my gut a lot as well as using good advice. sometimes a mix of both. i like to try different things. my gut tells me this thing is still going to take off suddenly. guess ill find out soon enough. but if not well at least im doing my best to keep it alive and healthy lookling. i still consider myself to be pretty lucky for first timer to only be having a "short plant" issue. and for all i know it could be a strain or phenotype thingOnly time can tell that. i have more seeds and nothing but time. perhaps some day ill be able to post pics that can rival the best, lol.

And to Jingo, i respect your advice a lot man, and everyones who have chimed in. totally went against your advice and plucked a couple fan leaves from bottom of plant, that experimental side of me took over, lol. but it was just a couple of tri spear leaves that wewre lower down. okay okay and two really really tiny new stems that werent really growing. figured meh ill let the plant save a little energy. IN essence this is kind of an experimental plant , not only to see how well i can look after it but also to see what little things i can get away with on it. it still has around 6 weeks of growing or so left to go to meet seed bank estimate. probably even a bit longer then that. ill keep feeding it and tucking here and there if able and will just ride it out and see what happens. With all the info ive already picked up on here. i already know my next grow should be even better. I'm far from giving up on this girl. its till spitting out new growth, looking forward to seeing what changes are in store for it good or bad.

Bro...i think u mentioned that yours is a full/very indica dom strain. So the height might be genetic. Even if you see others growing the same strain/breeder but looks different from yours, can be just a diff pheno. I find that similar phenos can share more similarities than same strain/breeder but diff pheno. Hope it makes sense. I'm a first time grower too. And did not even know what NPK was just 3 months ago. I stressed a lot in the beginning too. Quickly learnt to take it seriously but easy...lol

yeah its an afghan kush ryder, which according to seed bank specs is 100% pure indica, height is supposed to be between 15 and 32 inches. since im only into 3rd week theres still lots of grow time to see what happens. im enjoying the grow, its green and healthy, feeding it advanced nutrients sensi grow and have sensi bloom on the way. im just learning little tips and tricks from everyone on here. i think its priobably going to be just fine. it definitly hasnt stopped growing at all. growth improves every morning when i check it. shes just squat. but shes starting to spit out lots of new stems from every single node on the plant. so that tells me that its definitly still growing. it just gets hard to not start second guessing things when you see so many different pics of plants and different growth rates. if i hadnt of joined this forum i wouldnt even have known any different, lol. there have been some very informative people on here that have given me some great advice that i am currently using and or will be on next grow. really funny part is just a couple weeks ago i was on ehre worrying about my plant possibly growing to tall for my grow space. now shes pretty short and i start wondering if thats a problem of some kind. but as i started thinking about it more. its growth hasnt stopped so thats a good sign. itsnot showing any kinds of nute defiency or anything that i can see. all around it seems to be looking okay. perhaps not perfect. but definitly looks good to me. I'll just ride things out for now. and continue with the progress updates as i go. good news is since i still have 6 more seeds of this exact strain. in future grows ill be able to compare growth rates and get a better idea of how this strain grows. there will always be variables no matter what,my next grow could take off and outgrow tent, you never really know for sure. just gotta go with it :).

This just means u r gonna be getting some dense buds. Just showed pre flowers so might take a little to stretch. Unless light is ridiculously low, just keep doing wat u doin bro! Seriously, looks all good to this pair of noob eyes.

oh are those preflower pistols? i thought they were just new stems growing, lol.

I actually just today took jingos advice and raised my light as high as rope ratchets would go, so it raised by 5 inches.light is now sitting 24 inches above top of plant. he said that might encourage a little stretching in plant which will give me more room for leaf tucking and such.

just googled some pistil pics, and yes it seems i do infact have preflower pistils apearing, well thats a great sign. guess i didnt really notice them at first since i was focused on looking at the stem shoots growing, but when i look closer i can actually see pistils for ing, guess i was expecting to see actual white ahir looking things, mine are still green so didnt realize.

I KNEW I asked the right guy! I have one just like your pic at day 80. At office so best pic was last week

I'm guessing at least 2 more weeks from above pic date, which will be 10 days from today. Pistils got browner today so we'll see.

If I may so annoyingly request that you elaborate on your method
1. Pistil turning orange/brown/red. What is your take? How do you decide? What woud you do if you see majority red and matured pistils but still see some white ones? I tend to judge based on top bud pistils.

2. Calyx. Don't they just swell and push out some hairs? What else can it tell?

3. Watering. Based on your observation, what does slowing down and stopping means? And what do you do at each stage?
So red or brown pistils same thing. I look at length after color change. The pistils are mostly inside the calyx, what's sticking out is short and dark.

I also sampled a small Cola I harvested about two weeks ago.

well heres the next update with pics, today is officially the start of week 4, plant still hasnt grown much taller maybe a half inch ot an inch since last update, but it is definitly filling out and getting bushy. ive attempted some lst on the main stem to open up the light to the lower branches. ill continue to lst as necessary but other then that its still looking green lush and healthy. I'm pretty much just going to let it do what its going to do. as always feel free to comment or give any feedback! :).

My Stoner memory can't remember if you tried raising your light up to promote a stretch? LEDs can be deceptive they can keep your plant very low and squat if they're too close and they won't look unhealthy.

yes i did raise my light but i only had 5 inches to raise it. id only gain a few more inches by removing the ratchets. but honestly at this point i dont really care if it grows really tall. im very very curious to see what the outcome will be with it remaining short and bushy. i actually kind of am liking that its really short, at least its still healthy. and thats whats most important to me, the overall health.

yeah its definitly putting out lots of branches and theres definitly pistols forming though there small and green. but overall im happy with whats happening so far. im going to continue to try to lst to keep light to the lower branches so they can grow up more. but other then that ive decided to just let it grow and whatever hapens happens. big yield, small yield, soft buds dense buds. doesnt really matter to me. im just enjoying the grow, very theraputic almost.
