New Grower New grower: third set of seeds...

I stick clothespins under my fabric pots and on top of the drip tray. In between the plant and the drip tray. It doesn't raise them up much, maybe almost an inch. Enough for air to get in between.

yeah doesn't need to be fancy, or much. The riser trays used to be like a buck a pop, then fucking covid hit and now people sell them for like 6-10.

Periodically I wash my drip trays, then sterilize them with hydrogen peroxide/water solution. I've never had mold, fungus or bugs.

Maybe 12 photo runs, and now one auto run.

I'm gonna go ahead and directly contradict what @Tom Bombadil said. Do NOT keep your plants sitting in run off. Thats not what you want. Thats the opposite of what you want.

Raise them up. You're rotting your roots and drawing bugs otherwise. Also if your doing it as a way to keep soil even and not build up nutes etc... why would you then want your plant to take a bath in that?

This is science, not opinion FWIW.
i believe he was talking about organics in which case its a different story and he also mentioned only having a small amount of runoff that gets reabsorbed not the pot sitting in it for hours
totally different ball game to salt based nutrients as i understand it anyways

You're correct and I didn't pick that up. I'm more talking about sitting for days and not situation where its gone in an hour or so. And if its all organic, salt issue is gone too.

If it is sitting for long periods (day or two) regardless of the salts, it still isn't letting air get to the roots and attracting gnats. I've had issues with that in the past and didn't realize what I was doing wrong, that could be why Im a little more about it than other growers.

So @Tom Bombadil my bad if I was taking it out of context! Need to pay more attention in the am cruising threads!

no worries i came up with a way of getting my runoff away without the headache of pot trays
its pretty simple a piece of plywood cut to fit between the poles raised 6 inchs at the back with a 1 inch fall to a bit of guttering which holds about 3-4 liters full then i pump it out from there much easier than trying to drain plant trays
all the bits are easily got in the hardware store its a total must for me if you feed to runoff i couldn't go back to pot trays

I had Cali connections Louis da 8th which was 1 of my top picks when I get sick (medical problems) I can't sleep I just lay there not with that strain it also is great for pain aswell as nausea. I've not grown any yet personally but my buddy was pissed he didn't clone it. Autos 24carat and dinafems bubba kush are really good for sleep I've only grown the 24carat but tons of people on here love that bubba. Also not all autos will amber up but they are still very indica so ask around on here @pop22 has some great knolage on indica heavy maybe he can share wats worked best for him anyways good luck.
Ps. rso is my go to and for me strain isn't to relevant I use 00 capsules which is right around .4g to .5g or 400/500mg each work really well.
Nice. Will make note of that. Next seed buys are gonna be Mandalorian's Black Strap when it gets stocked and try for a mephisto monday
again.

Actually smart, this should be a standard in every grow tent
