New Grower New, first grow

Nearing end of day 7 and fed them 20 ml each part GH Flora. Result was 188 ppm and held ph at 6. Tent's a lil warmer than I anticipated. The 30 min/ 30 min watering rotation is keepin the rooters moist on top. Here we go.

Morning of day 8 finds ppm relatively steady at around 200 (better mixed probly than 1st measure) so tonight's measure will matter more. Big surprise is drop in res temps to 67 from 72. Could be intake fan blowing on it so re-directing that and will check later. Would be great if I can regulate temps this way. First signs of green popping out sides of cotyledons and stiffer stalks. Nutes? Maybe fan cross breeze? Lights? Small re-positioning of intake and side fan yields a tiny flickering in the seedlings, barely perceptible. This should help the CDLC stalk too, wh/ has switched over night from bending outward to bending inward. The 3 Bears remains straight and stiff.

12 hours later, ppm still climbing. Earlier it had jumped 10 points overnite wh/ I attributed to bein better mixed, but now it's gone from 198 to 218. Swapped out 2 gallons for water. With intake/exhaust fans lowered the res temp is holding at 67 F. Now the CDLC is beefing up its stalk and leaf has grown today. Spotted a tiny green bug in side of pot. WTF. Gonna try 2 see what it was. Interesting to see these 2 go back and forth in development. Plugs moist/not wet so keepin 30 on/ 30 off watering. Will turn middle fan down tonight. Nute mix should be closer to starting mix tomorrow morn.

Morning of 9th day and the 3 Bears has kept pace by opening its cotyledon leaves. The nutes are 199, so staying within range after yesterday's adjustment, and water temp has stayed steady at 67.8 with the new fan configuration and settings. Will keep wall fan on strong during light. Caught one of the tiny green bugs with a piece of tape on my laptop screen last night to see what it is. It'll take a magnifying glass. But great to see Sally and Ernestine doing well, filling and firming up.

Just realized a mistake I made. Different strains will have differing uptake of nutes, so how can I achieve a proper nute level? Jeez, such a noob move. Both are indica dom w/ similar growth characteristics so maybe I'll luck out.

Coming up on end of day 9. Nute solut holding at 195 and temps at 68, ph unchanged on the 6 mark. Only change is I raised the light 3" to 30" b/c the 3 Bears cotyledon leafs are praying and this one is a lil taller than the CDLC wh/ is not praying. Will turn fans down for the night and button it up for some overnight heat like yesterday.

Morning day 10 and success. Had a large fan at basement steps overnight to take out cold air. Water temp this morn is 70 F so have reined that in. PPM holding at 195 w/ 6 PH. Noticeable node buttons on CDLC tucked into false leaves. Probably on 3 Bears also if I could see.

Day 11. Changed things up a bit after worryin about the fans during dark. Only the air pump is 24/7 now, with water pump and cross-vent fan on a 30/30 cycle, and added intake/exhaust fans to light timer to keep tent more stable during dark. The cross-vent fan goes 30 mins every hour to keep the air fresh w/o droppin temps too much. All holding well w/ 199 ppm and water 72 F. Think I see the first true leaves stickin up in 3 Bears, of a different sort than the CDLC whose leaves are growin well.

p.s. Water temps are maintained up or down--72-67--according to how much cold basement air I drive up the stairs to first floor. Still have dehumidifier off but will set that for flower later.

A mid-day check showed 207 ppm so that's goin up...10 ppm since this morn. Checked PH and it's 6.5. Think it can be attributable to the loss of ascorbic acid vit C I used for chloramine--vit C is only good for 2 days. The hose-fitted chloramine filter should be here tonight, and I'll prolly have to start adding some cal-mag if the filter takes too many other goodies out with it. Reset PH to 6 and will check PPMs tonight. Girls are lookin great tho. Seem about to take off.

Filter came in so will use that for next nute change and...maybe...add cal-mag. It's either that or add Vit C every 2 days and hope that doesn't have unintended consequences. But It is a perfect PH buffer--the 50 mg/ gal dose exactly balances PH from tap. Changed out a quart nutes for water and brought PH back to 195 for a better idea tomorrow for what the plants are eating/drinking with proper PH. Should hold steady.

Day 12 Forgot to turn down fan speeds for overnight dark phase. Jeez. So the temps prolly dropped and the cross vent fan was pummeling the 3 Bears every half hour. But temps couldn't have dropped too far cuz the water was a perfect 70 F and...here's the best part...195 ppm, exactly as I left it. The CDLC is soaring while 3 Bears 1st set are distinctively spiking. She's always played catch up anywhere from 12-24 hours behind CDLC so all good. This whole thing had me tryin to buy more seeds last night. The 3 Bears false leaves are dropping a lil, tho, and trailing CDLC in size, so moved cross vent fan away and dropped lights 2 inches. These were those wh/ began to pray early on, so will see.

Well this is extraordinary. After 7 hours with the cross-vent fan blowin horizontally (off the 3 Bears), and lights 2" closer at 28", the 3 Bears shows remarkable response. False leaves back to horizontal, and 1st true leaf nodes have grown 1/8" and flattened out (from initial spiking). Still think they were beginning to claw b/c of fan on them at high speed, but I've turned fan speed down and re-positioned it to give both seedlings a lil flicker. Tickled at movin light closer as I'm eager to maximize this. But yeah, 7 short hours later and both are noticeably larger by at least 1/8". SOOooo kool :dancer:
