New Grower New, first grow

CDLC is an A-grade smoke. Good choice. Wish she was available over here :-(

I got 3.5 zips from her.

Autos don't care about light leaks. I bring them in and out of the tent whenever. They just want 24-7.

Cannabis is a C3 plant and does not require a dark period.

Thx Jumper. Okay. I admit I just jumped into it--saw the Man O' Green piece and said, "Right. That's for us." Still sorting the auto differences, Sprouts are 4 days old, preppin everything for transplant. Yeah, sum1 (maybe Man O') listed their 5 favorite Mephistos and CDLC was one, but mostly I'm keen on any Indica hybrids cuz grow space is so small. Still readin lots here--beats the 2 books I've read. Think I'm gonna do 20/4 cuz I just can't see not restin them/maintainin some semblance of imitating natural cycles. I dunno.

CDLC was not that small when I grew her out!! But her smell and taste and high, only second to Grape Walker Kush.

No no no.! Look up what a C3 plant means. No darkness required.

If you said, "I want to save my bulb" - perhaps... but .... still no!.... plus I am a Quantum LED guy ;-p

These are auto - more light = more energy. No darkness required for cannabis plants. Photos or autos. (Photos don't flower at 24/7 but thrive huh????!!!)

Wow. Ok then, I'll do that.

Had 'em out last 2 days for added heat/humidity, and even let the Rapid Rooter dry out a few hours, then fed the dish again. Three hours later the 3 Bears had popped up a good 3/8 inch. Howz that even possible? Well it's the first thing I've ever grown and I'm so stoked by all of it, but mostly by these little seedlings. The CDLC will be out by morning. As for size I set the ScrOG at 9 inches and will LST. Thx Jumper.

Seeds and seedings all bookers.

Wake me up at 2nd true leaves ;-)

I dunno, check out this book, Photosynthesis, specifically chapter 6 on the enzymatic dark cycle. Just began reading it.

Hohohhohohoho .... heheheheheheh......

Seriously look up what C3 means. I am not being mean......,.. I am glad you will understand shortly.!

That is why I try and help on AFN. Let me know if you don't want my help.... I will be off

Well I'm no biochemist, but it does seem the term "dark cycle" is a little misleading as it doesn't occur during night, but in parallel w/ light uptake. Curioser and curioser.

Seems photoperiodism processes are more applicable to the question, and which type of photoperiodic plant is cannabis. Itsa short-day facultative plant. The question might then be whether the autos are exempted from the photoperiod requirements of typical stort-day facultative plants.

edit: Well Jumper, I DO appreciate your help, and the ruderalis aspect aside, there are compelling justifications for some dark time, not the least being what we don't know. And Fast Buds recommends it. At forums I've read, all who've done comparos are emphatic that 20/4 is best, 18/6 next, and 24/0 least desirable/yielding. From this has developed a search for why it's so. And as a first-timer who's gonna be slow to respond to anything that might go wrong, I'll have the benefit of better reaction-windows w/ the 20/4 or 18/6. RQS also reports best results with it.

Day five in 3 more hours--10pm of 8/15. The shorter one (Creme de la Chem) was 10 hours behind the other (3 Bears OG Kush), but they weren't pre-soaked. Next time I'll do the Ronin germination since he uses Rapid Rooters also. I also like them for the ease of slicing them to open and see how they're doing.

Day 6 1/2 The seedlings worked in the dark last night after midnight. The 3 Bears had caught and passed the CDLC wh/ seemed to languish, and the difference in stalk thickness is evident, the oncoming 3 Bears being 1/3 thicker. Both tap roots have reached the bottom of their plugs so they're going in the tent. Both have sloughed their shell. The ascorbic acid vitamin C for chloramines exactly sets the ph at 6. Am considering cal mag b/c I'm using the Sensi recipe for the GH Flora set, and in their following Q&A they say LEDs "chew up cal mag." Various people say yea, others nay. The top feed drip is set for 15 mins on, 45 mins off by some rings I made outa 3/16" hose with ample room around the plug. Gonna start both light sets at 30" having read the seedlings want 200-400 PAR, and 27" would give 300. I'll probably lower it to that tomorrow. Dehumidifier has been off 3 days to raise RH and will run it for 60% until 45% late in flower. Went to 30/30 on the water drip--tops of plugs were dry relatively quickly. Easily an inch from the plugs all round. Buttoned tent up so now itsa matter of how long I can go w/o peeking. Need heat/humidity to stabilize to see how the tent atmosphere will be.
