New Grower My First AFN Journal ~~Original OG Kush auto in 15 gallon pot~~ Stop in and Say hello!

Diary Update for today 4/18/21 for the QPA X DDA cross

She is at sprout +37 days today. The Quarter Pounder Auto plants I have grown in the past tend to start flowering around 35-40 days after sprouting so I expect to start to see her pushing out some pistils very soon. The Dark Devil that I crossed her with tends to stretch a lot once flowering starts and I hope that carries over in this cross. I continue to relocate her restraints forcing her to grow towards the edge of the pot. Once there I will stop and let her grow vertical.

Diary update for today 4/18/21 for the Original OG Kush auto.

She looks to be rebounding well from her last training session yesterday. I do not feel the heavy defoliation will have any negative effects on her, she has a lot of leaves. One thing I wonder now though is will her branches grow vertical or will they just flower out in the horizontal position as in the photo. Some were already going vertical but those are the secondary branches, the smaller ones. I guess at this point it doesn't matter cause it is what it is.
Welcome to the small shrub club :smoking:(kidding) I'm still waiting for mine to grow vertical >.<
Looks good after the haircut, seems to of liked it and plenty more light is going in now.

Your OG Kush auto has had a lot of foliage taken off there. With the veg stage pretty well over now, she might stay a bit small. See how she goes of course. Maybe still time to get some height on her.
Heavy defoliation is better suited to photos cos you can give the branches time to grow vertically after being stripped and hoiked around. You structure the plant, then grow it out for a while, then flip to flower. Autos don't have that luxury and if you pull too much off it, you don't get that phase of growing out, and end up with little ladies.
Still some good smoke to be had off a small plant though :smokeit:

What I mean about autos - this structure was from topping once leaving two pairs of branches the 3rd and 4th pairs, and then not removing the leaves, but removing the secondary branches that grew out of these four. Keep in mind this was only a very small grow with two very small plants.

In a larger space with a few ft of height, I would never say top an auto, only LST and pinch out most side branches, so that the branches that do remain get tall and form big colas. You get the energy taken in by those leaves, directed into fewer bud sites. By taking off leaves and leaving side branches, you get less overall energy taken in, and disperse it across a greater number of bud sites.

You know what comes to mind when I look at this pic?!?!?! (I may be dating myself here) The slogan from old Virginia Slims ads "You've come along way, baby!!"
U iz old!:funny::funny:

Diary update for today 4/19/21 for the Original OG Kush auto

She is 47 days post sprout today. She has been bent, broken, manhandled, shaved, defoliated and restrained. But by God she's still alive and even without the help of most of the 57 members of this site I've learned a number of things about growing autos. I do want to thank those that have taken a minute or two to offer some advice.

Hell yeah, good job!
I feel they want us to learn by doing, i was wanting my hand held the whole grow but quickly learned that is not the case here but with the use of the chat room and pms i got the help i wanted or needed. I learn from head butting walls anyways :smoking: ask my dad lol all his advice still landed me with a few bad women :nono:
I would help but as i heard from another smart man here, we are the blind leading the blind lol but I can cheer others on and help with stuff i do know or maybe half know haha

Thanks for stopping in DCLXVI

The method to extract the seedling is called Floating. I will put a piece of tape over the drain hole on the bottom and slowly add water till the perlite starts to rise/float on the water. I will already have the hole made in the medium. I will then very gently hold the seedling by the "neck" and while lightly squeezing the sides of the cup I lightly pull up on the seedling. It's amazing how easy 99.4% of them come out of the perlite. I then place the tap root down into the hole I created and gently backfill around it. If I thought it stressed the seedling at all I wouldn't do it. I'll see what I can do to get some one handed pictures tomorrow during transplant. I like to give the plant one extra day after sprouting before transplanting it.
SOB thanks for the tip! That’s a new idea to me.
