Grow Mediums Mom's Autocob, Autoflower, Autopot Grow

i sent a message to pop22. I guess I will just let these ladies dry out from their top water today and then take it from there. god, i hope they perk up and it is not ANOTHER issue causing them to go limp. (that sounded naughty)

we all can be naughty and nice. You will know by morning if they needed just watering. Just do not do anything else. see if that was the issue. it will all be ok. we have nothing to fear except that from ourselves.

This is an example of why you shouldn't put pebbles, etc in the bottom of a pot. Water resists flowing from one medium to another, especially when there is a large difference in particle size.
Also, I water my pots well about 3 days before I transplant. You should only then have to water again maybe twice before starting the res. I water with about a quart the first time, then 16 oz the next

Trays keep water, and it wicks up as needed.
Maybe they aren't wicking. @pop22 is the one to help. He is our guru!

Funny you say that. I went with straight coco and appears I am getting to much water.

Do you think there is too much perlite? @MassMom the perlite was evenly mixed with the soil, correct. And you put no lava rock in the bottom around the airdrome, correct?

Pop, how do you know there are pebbles in the bottom of the pot and that is causing the issue?

I was going to use lava pebbles (hydrowhateveritscalled) around my air domes but now I might not and use perlite instead. Then coco/perlite on top of that. But I do have pebbles sitting in PH'd water ready to go and I am pretty sure the autopot guys say this is a good way to go.

When do you get too much? After the res is turned on? or when you hand water?

Once the airdrome and res are on then the coco can be wetter than you think. The roots are sitting in water with a constant air supply. Sort of like DWC.

I use straight coco. Nothing else. They wick excellent. 2stoned2care, Hansbricks and pop22 do not use lava rock or perlite. They all only use one media. What Autopot says is for non marijuana, IMHO.

So is there any negative to using perlite with coco? I already have mixed mine and ready to use. But I have a couple of coco bricks left that I can use instead. Would like to know the answer to this before I pot up as they say.
