Lighting Migro Aray

U
I don't agree that Migro is top class. His build quality was never that good, was constantly seeing ppl complaining about imperfections on their lights when he was selling those ugly way too big and overpriced COB units. Sorry but someone had to say it. I respect Shane for his reviews but never been impressed with his lights, there is always something weird about them.

Looks like the Aray 3 is using Seoul diodes now. I kinda like that, hate how most everyone is just copying HLG both in the diodes they use and the shapes/arrangment of their boards. It's simply impossible to get the top bin Samsung diodes in large enough quantities as HLG takes most/all of them off Samsung. So why bother with the middle bins when you can just use something else that's probably a bit cheaper as well. I think most ppl would be really shocked to see how close most of these top LED companies are in efficiency.

So if you were wondering what the difference is. Shane used the top Samsung bins in his initial production run. Was getting a ppfd of 2.4µmol/w over the recommended area . Now look at this cocoforcecannabis review of the current production run that is on mid-range Samsung bins. Btw Shane collaborates and personally recommends this site for light reviews.

2.12 µmol/w

Errrrm. Yeah...

Looks like his real competition isn't the likes of HLG, Fluence etc. but Mars-Hydro/Spider. Personally i am kinda disappointed in these new Aray lights though not really as i've come to expect this from Shane. They have excellent light distribution but the efficiency just isn't there and they look flimsy and not at all quality built(super thin piece of bendy aluminum to connect the bars, hanging from the cable etc.). Can't believe i am gonna say this(i hate Mars) but i'd actually get the SP-3000 from Mars over the Aray 240. Prices are pretty much the same but the SP gives out alot more light.

Just my personal opinion.
u have clearly never used a migro light.how wrong u are.do a grow and see for urself.instead of false claims.lol.migro are top class.happy growing every1;)

Picture is my current grow with migro 200 amnesia haze auto from fastbuds and its a monster plant. All of my plants have been big under these llights and im far from an expert grower using organic nutrients. I wonder what this guys reason is for putting down the lights id understand it if the lights were are crap but they definitely are not.

Don't be emotional... What false claims ?

I never said it won't grow good weed. I am on Luminus COB's myself guys(albeit CRI 90), they are excellent, i agree, best COB chip atm. But you could have saved alot of money building them yourself. Damn thing cost like 280 euros a piece, i can put together 2 of them on regular pin fin heatsinks for that money, so stop. Overpriced as hell.

This is what i am talking about...

See how it's lifted up ? This look like quality build to you ? That's what happens when you don't use a 2$ cob holder.

Btw opinions are never wrong, they are just opinions. And my opinion is that the Migro COB's were overpriced ugly ass looking lights with questionable build quality. And personally i'd never ever have any electrical equipment hanging from the freakin electrical cable, that's just asking for trouble.

I have a migro 120. The fit and finish is very nice. Also the connector bar is plenty stable. I did have reservations about hanging from the cable but it seems fine once hooked up correctly. They also said the cable was a concern so they tested it with extra weight before release. I do still think it a design fault and I would prefer some sort of steel wire hanger in addition. The option for far red led inclusion was also a nice option.

I had looked at the Mars Ts600 & Ts1000 but was turned off by the amount of heat they generated. I was able to see them in person and touch/feel the units.

There seem to be a lot of great lights out there for reasonable prices. At the end of the day I liked the compact size and design of the Migro unit.

That's what i like to hear. Yeah they certainly look better built then those COB's he used to do. So what is the weight like ? Also much does it spin around, the 120 feels like it would spin around like crazy ? Far red, you mean deep red ?

Weight wise it's just under 3lbs. It doesn't feel heavy per say but it's stable enough that a small fan doesn't move it around. Mine stays put and doesn't spin but I could see omeone wanting it oriented a certain way and having trouble getting it to stay still.

They list the led options as full spectrum 3500k and 80cri. I chose the Samsung LM301B and Osram 660nm Reds.

I do think someone could build a better light if they want to research and can do some connections. Some of us are old and just want plug and play. That's me these days.
:d5:

Oh i don't disagree, i kinda like the Aray lights(light ditribution is really nice) and i think the price is good. I just have an issue with that cable and the way he cheekily switched up the diodes. I mean you gotta admit, he goes out bragging about 2.42 μmol/j efficiency and then it's more then 10 percent less in the final product, that's a little shady. I know ppl from some other european forums that returned them because of that. They saw the youtube video, bought the lights only to realize they are drawing more power then expected, sent emails to Migro and were told it's because they use different diodes then the initial run. It's still good efficiency, nothing wrong with it but c'mon dude it's supposed to be 2.42...
